You also agree to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/about\/privacy-policy\/\">Privacy Policy<\/a> \u200dand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/about\/terms-service\/\">Terms of Use<\/a>.\t\t<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-results\">\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-results-yes\" style=\"width: 100%\">\n<p>\t\t\tYes: 100% (21 Votes)\n\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-results-no\" style=\"width: 0%\">\n<p>\t\t\tNo: 0% (0 Votes)\n\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s legal team did not want cameras at the Manhattan arraignment in\u200c April due to concerns of a \u201ccircus-like atmosphere,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/04\/03\/trump-lawyers-oppose-cameras-at-arraignment-warn-of-circus-like-atmosphere.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lauro\u2062 quickly\u200b interjected that \u201cthat\u2019s different\u201d and \u200dthat \u201cwe\u2019re going to have a process\u201d this time around.\u2063 But Roberts continued to pour cold\u200b water on Lauro\u2019s push for courtroom cameras.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou also can\u2019t have cameras in federal court, \u2062so I think\u200d the point is probably moot,\u201d Roberts said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can ask for it,\u201d Lauro countered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can ask,\u2063 but you\u2019re not going \u200dto get them,\u201d Roberts matter-of-factly replied.<\/p>\n<p>Well, either way, this is a win-win move for the former president.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s \u2064say an exception is granted and cameras are \u200dallowed in \u2062the courtroom. \u200bNot only is that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/entire-irish-rugby-team-in-international-tournament-refuses-to-take-a-knee\/\" title=\"Entire Irish Rugby Team In International Tournament Refuses To \u2018Take A Knee\u2019\">historic win<\/a> for Trump, but\u200c he now has <em>the <\/em>international spotlight \u200bon him \u2014 and, just as importantly, on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jack-smith-forced-inform-court-failed-turn-evidence-trump-legal-team-made-incorrect-representation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prosecutors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(On a far\u200d less important note, can\u200d you imagine the ratings that a televised trial of\u200c a former \u200dU.S. president would do? \u200bTrump would love to be able to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-issues-statement-cnn-town-hall-ratings-come-smart-thing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">take credit<\/a> for that \u200dbonanza.)<\/p>\n<p>Now, if cameras are denied,\u200b as Roberts so smugly assured us they would be, that\u2019s still a win for Trump. Now the case takes on a \u200cwhole new air of suspicion.<\/p>\n<p>How can anyone fully \u200ctrust\u2063 what\u2019s going \u2063on in\u200d a courtroom if the proceedings are kept under lock and \u200dkey? What are they \u2064hiding? In this case, the allegations and evidence hardly seem like a matter of national security.<\/p>\n<p>Holding the trial behind closed doors would only confirm Trump\u2019s supporters \u200bin their distrust of the federal \u2064government.
