Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rick Scott (R-FL) notably took to X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier this week to demand answers after a Washington Examiner \u2063report revealed United States District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who was assigned to the Trump election-related case, contributed roughly $4,300 to Barack Obama&#8217;s presidential campaign\u2063 and victory fund combined between 2008 and 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Rody, \u200bwho <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-department-prosecutor-for-trump-cases-donated-thousands-to-biden-democrats\/\" title=\"Justice Department prosecutor in Trump cases made significant donations to Biden and Democrats.\">previously led investigations related<\/a> to bribery, fraud, obstruction of justice, and other federal crimes, used to be head of the Violent Crimes\u200d unit in the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office for the Southern District of New York. In June, he also steered $1,000 to the campaign for Rep. Dan\u2064 Goldman (D-NY), who was lead counsel in the first impeachment inquiry against \u2064Trump, disclosures show.<\/p>\n<p>He also gave $500 in\u2064 2019 to the failed-presidential campaign for now-Vice President Kamala Harris and $2,250 combined\u200b to Sen. Cory Booker&#8217;s (D-NJ) presidential and Senate reelection campaigns, according to disclosures.<\/p>\n<h3>Request for Extension<\/h3>\n<p>On Saturday afternoon, lawyers for Trump requested Chutkan grant the team a three-day extension to respond to a DOJ protective order\u200c that would block the former president from \u2063sharing details \u2063of evidence in connection to the Jan. 6 case. The order was prompted after Trump issued a post on Truth Social Friday that read,\u2062 &#8220;IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I\u2019M COMING AFTER YOU.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump was\u200b on Thursday arraigned in Washington,\u2064 D.C., on four federal charges, including one count of conspiracy to defraud the\u200c United States, one count of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, one count of obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and one count of \u200dconspiracy \u200bagainst\u2062 rights. \u2064He \u2064was indicted Tuesday by\u200d a\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/missouri-man-charged-with-threatening-to-murder-2-us-congressmen\/\" title=\"Missouri Man Charged With Threatening to Murder 2 US Congressmen\">federal grand jury<\/a> in the nation&#8217;s capital.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s no surprise that several of his prosecutors are Biden donors,&#8221; Leavitt added, \u200creferring to Smith.
