The court also noted\u200b that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-upholds-connecticut-law-eliminating-religious-exemptions-for-childhood-vaccines\/\" title=\"Federal Court supports Connecticut law removing religious exemptions for childhood vaccines.\">proposed exemption elimination received overwhelming public opposition<\/a> \u200d(95 percent), with the supportive minority representing\u200c various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-cabinet-pick-defended-unconstitutional-religious-restrictions\/\" title=\"Biden Cabinet Pick Defended Unconstitutional Religious Restrictions\">public health agencies<\/a> and associations.<\/p>\n<p>Connecticut Attorney General William Tong,\u200c a Democrat, <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/AG\/Press-Releases\/2023-Press-Releases\/Statement-on-Decision-Upholding-Elimination-of-Religious-Exemption-to-School-Vaccine-Requirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a> in a press release on Friday that overriding religious freedom was necessary to prevent\u200c disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaccines save lives \u2014 \u200cthis is a fact beyond dispute. \u2064The legislature acted \u2064responsibly and well within its\u2063 authority to protect the \u2063health of Connecticut families\u2063 and stop\u200c the spread of preventable disease,\u201d \u200bsaid Tong. \u201cWe will continue to\u2064 vigorously defend\u2063 our \u2063state\u2019s strong and necessary \u2063public health laws.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Connecticut\u2063 legislature banned religious exemptions for childhood vaccinations in 2021\u200b through Connecticut\u200c Public Act No. \u200d21-6. Under the law, families may not\u200c claim\u2063 a religious exemption from immunization\u200c requirements for preK-12 schools.
