The 45<sup>th<\/sup> \u200c president \u200cappeared before a magistrate judge in Washington\u2019s federal courthouse. The next hearing date was set for August 28<sup>th<\/sup>, when a\u2064 tentative\u200d trial date will be set.\u2062 Criminal defense\u200d attorney Alan Dershowitz told One America News that \u200bthe 45<sup>th<\/sup> president cannot get\u2062 a fair trial in Washington.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s rare to get a change of \u200cvenue based on political affiliations, but in this case, it\u2019s so overwhelming,\u201d said Dershowitz. \u201cThere is no district \u2062in\u2063 all of the\u2063 United States that is more anti-Trump than the \u2062District of Columbia.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump agreed,\u2063 arguing that the trial should be moved to West Virginia.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201c[Washington, D.C. is] the appropriate \u2064venue \u200d\u2019cause the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dershowitz-no-district-in-u-s-more-anti-trump-than-washington-d-c\/\" title=\"Dershowitz: D.C. is America's most 'Anti-Trump' district.\">alleged crimes \u200boccurred<\/a> there,\u201d Dershowitz said. \u201cBut the court has\u200b the \u2064power to transfer it\u200c to \u2062West Virginia or to Southern Virginia or other purple\u2062 areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcboe.org\/CMSPages\/GetFile.aspx?guid=8930897e-cb27-492a-9313-b8ab2fcdc8e8\">Washington Board of\u2062 Elec<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcboe.org\/CMSPages\/GetFile.aspx?guid=8930897e-cb27-492a-9313-b8ab2fcdc8e8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">t<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dcboe.org\/CMSPages\/GetFile.aspx?guid=8930897e-cb27-492a-9313-b8ab2fcdc8e8\">ions<\/a>, only\u200b 5.32% of voters in\u200b the nation\u2019s capital were registered as Republicans as of June \u200d30, 2023. But Dershowitz says \u2064there is a\u2063 way \u200cfor the 45<sup>th<\/sup> president to show\u200b evidence that the nation\u2019s capital is an unfair venue.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere are\u2063 companies that pick \u200cpeople at \u2064random from the jury pool and ask them questions\u2062 about their feelings toward\u2063 Trump and\u2064 show how difficult \u200bit\u2062 would be to get a fair objective jury in the District of Columbia,\u201d said Dershowitz.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>U.S. District\u200d Judge Tanya Chutkan, who will oversee\u2062 the case, has grown a reputation as one of the toughest punishers \u200bfor January 6<sup>th<\/sup> defendants.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere has\u2064 to be an\u2062 appearance \u200cof justice,\u201d said Dershowitz. \u201cThis judge is a disaster from that \u200dpoint of view.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chutkan has handed out\u200d tougher\u2062 sentences than the Department of Justice was seeking\u2063 numerous \u200ctimes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t imagine\u200c a worse judge for trying \u200cto persuade the American people that [Trump\u2019s] going to get a fair\u200c trial,\u201d said\u200b Dershowitz.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chutkan also worked at Boies, Schiller, &#038; Flexner, a Washington, D.C. law firm, while Hunter Biden worked for \u200dthem as a lobbyist. Specifically,\u2063 she \u2063worked in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-claims-he-took-out-personal-loans-to-pay-legal-team-has-incurred-substantial-debt\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden says he borrowed money to pay lawyers and now has significant debt.\">white collar defense<\/a> for the firm from 2002 \u200band 2014.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cShe got her training at a law firm that has probably the \u200clargest number of allegations of \u2064conflict\u200c of\u200d interest and corruption of any major \u2063law \u2064firm in America,\u201d Dershowitz said. \u201cThey represented Hunter \u200bBiden in the\u2063 Barisma situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can tell you \u200bthat\u2064 I\u2019m representing one \u200bof the young \u200dlaw\u200c students who\u200c was\u2062 waved into the Capitol,\u201d Dershowitz \u200ccontinued. \u201cWe think he did nothing wrong. But\u200c when we heard that we did not get her as\u200c our \u200cjudge, we cheered.
