Simmons Praises \u2018Juno\u2019 Co-Star Elliot Page (Formerly Ellen): \u2018Iconic In A New Way\u2019\">award-winning actor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s important to really \u200denjoy your ride in life as much as you can, because there\u2019s a lot of\u2064 challenges \u200cand stuff to \u2063knock it down.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Quaid, 69, recently released \u201cFallen: A Gospel Record for \u200bSinners\u201d on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-15-most-anticipated-albums-of-2021\/\" title=\"The 15 Most Anticipated Albums of 2021\u00a0\">streaming services<\/a>. The album is available for purchase in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nhl-fines-chicago-blackhawks-2m-for-failing-to-follow-through-with-sexual-assault-allegations-against-an-assistant-coach-from-2010\/\" title=\"NHL fines Chicago Blackhawks M for failing to follow through with sexual assault allegations against an assistant coach from 2010\">hard copy<\/a>, but has also been\u2062 uploaded in its \u2064entirety to YouTube <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=s4En8KOR_9Q&#038;list=PL8mubWuh0xkTz3IPjv8nftK9FpH_RPEHv&#038;index=4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-three years after he\u2064 recorded a Christian single \u2062as\u200c a way to tell his mother he was doing all right after\u2062 having spent years addicted to cocaine, he told People magazine last week \u200dwhat motivated him to put together a collection of classic hymnals and original songs.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I grew up at the Baptist church; \u2062I\u2063 love the hymns that I \u200cremember from being a kid,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>says Quaid.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The songs are self-reflective and self-examining, not churchy. All of us have a relationship with \u200cGod, whether you\u2019re\u2064 a Christian\u200c or not.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Quaid\u2019s battles with addiction are well-documented. He told\u200b CNN\u2019s Larry King in 2002 he had previously used two grams of cocaine on a daily\u200c basis.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Cocaine at \u200bthat time was \u2062considered harmless,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Quaid said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You know. I remember magazine articles\u200d in People magazine of doctors saying, it is \u2062not addicting. It \u2062is just \u2014 alcohol is worse. So I think we all fell into that. But that\u2019s \u200bnot the way it was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But his path\u200c in life included \u2062a stop at rehab, which\u200b he referred\u2063 to as &#8220;cocaine school,&#8221; wherein he felt at one point he was \u2063close to losing\u200b everything.<\/p>\n<p>As a solo artist,\u200d Quaid said\u200b he quit \u2063using \u200cdrugs and \u2064filled the void left behind with the \u2062faith he had\u200b abandoned.<\/p>\n<p>He also recorded 1990\u2019s \u201cOn My Way \u2063to Heaven\u201d \u200bwhich he said was a way to let\u200c his mother Juanita know he \u2063was going to turn his life around.<\/p>\n<p>He also \u200dstudied scripture and began to prioritize faith in \u200bhis life. That\u200d journey has also \u200dstrengthened his marriage to his fourth wife\u200b Laura Savoie.<\/p>\n<p>Quaid told Extra on Thursday that he \u2064and Laura pray together, which is something he had never done with any\u2063 of\u200b his former wives, including Hollywood \u200dstar Meg Ryan \u2014 who he was with from 1991 until 2011.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;God is in my wife and I\u2019s relationship,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>he told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dennis-quaid-releases-first-gospel-album-and-credits-return-to-god-for-saving-him-from-addiction-a-white-light-experience\/\" title=\"Dennis Quaid's Gospel Album: A Testament of Redemption\">entertainment industry\u2063 outlet<\/a>, adding,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;and it\u2019s another thing that I never really had\u2064 before.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But a marriage blessed by God could not have come to \u2064fruition until the actor had found a place for God in his life.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;That\u2019s when I started developing\u2063 a personal relationship,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Quaid told People of finding sobriety.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Before that, I didn\u2019t have\u2064 one, \u2063even though I grew up as a Christian.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On his recovery from drug addiction, The Texas native said, &#8220;It\u2019s a \u2062struggle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re all looking\u200c for the \u2064joy \u2063of life, and drugs give that to you and alcohol and whatever it is for anybody give that to you really quick,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>he said of his past.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then they\u2019re fun \u2062and then they\u2019re fun with problems, and then they\u2019re just problems after a while. That\u2019s really what we\u2019re looking for, the joy of life, which is our gift, actually, the relationship with God that we all have.
