However, the American \u2062College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and other organizations condemn these centers as illegitimate \u2062and unregulated \u2062healthcare clinics that use deceptive means to dissuade patients from obtaining abortions.<\/p>\n<p>The American\u200b College of \u2063Obstetricians and Gynecologists \u200cstated, &#8220;By using deception, \u200ddelay tactics,\u200d and disinformation, staffs undermine the tenets of\u2063 informed consent and patient autonomy and impede access to comprehensive, ethical care.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>The New Law and Its Impact<\/h3>\n<p>Last week, Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a \u2063measure into law that clarified how state consumer protection laws\u2064 applied to crisis \u2064pregnancy centers. While \u2062the law \u200cdoes not compel these centers to provide information that goes against their\u2063 conscience, it \u200bdoes prevent them from using misinformation or deceptive practices to interfere with access to abortion services or \u200demergency contraception.<\/p>\n<p>Upon signing the legislation, Governor Pritzker emphasized the importance \u2063of women having access to comprehensive, \u200bfact-based healthcare \u2062when making critical decisions about \u200ctheir\u200c own \u200chealth.\u2062 He criticized politically \u200bmotivated, non-medical actors for manipulating and spreading misinformation.<\/p>\n<p>However, Glessner strongly disagreed with\u200d the law, stating, &#8220;Governor Pritzker \u2064went so far overboard \u200bwith this law, demanding \u200bpeople who \u200ddon&#8217;t agree with him outrightly go against their beliefs and support his\u2064 radical abortion stance.&#8221;\u2062 He expressed his delight with the \u2063judge&#8217;s\u2064 decision to issue the\u2063 preliminary injunction and hoped that the law \u200bwould \u2064eventually be discarded, similar to Roe v.
