Trump \u200bcurrently\u200d leads the\u200b Republican nomination contest and is\u2063 facing a third\u2064 criminal \u2064indictment in court \u200con \u200cThursday.<\/p>\n<p>When \u2063asked\u2064 who they would vote for &#8220;if the election for president were held today,&#8221; 19 percent of Biden&#8217;s 2020 voters participating in the poll said they \u200beither weren&#8217;t sure or would pick someone other than Biden or Trump. Six percent of Biden&#8217;s 2020\u200b voters chose Trump.<\/p>\n<p>In the poll, \u206342 percent \u2063of Biden&#8217;s 2020 voters said the\u200d economy was &#8220;worse&#8221; than it was in 2020, compared to 33 percent who said it was \u2062&#8221;better&#8221; \u2064and 24 percent who said it was &#8220;about the same.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/most-americans-believe-trump-indictment-is-primarily-politically-motivated-quinnipiac-poll\/\" title=\"Most Americans see Trump's indictment as politically driven: Quinnipiac Poll.\">poll results highlight<\/a> a challenge for the\u200d White House, as officials are working\u200c to \u2062reverse the negative perception of\u2063 Biden&#8217;s economic\u2064 performance. To raise awareness of Biden&#8217;s efforts\u200b to\u2064 help the economy, he will personally visit\u2063 Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah from \u2062Aug. 7-10 to promote his Inflation Reduction Act law, which aims to\u2062 boost manufacturing and fight climate\u200c change.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, about half of the respondents who voted for\u2063 Biden in 2020 said they have\u200c heard little or nothing about his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-60-minutes-interview-proved-once-again-he-isnt-running-the-country-so-who-is\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s \u201860 Minutes\u2019 Interview Proved Once Again He Isn\u2019t Running The Country, So Who Is?\">major policy initiatives<\/a> to reduce\u200b inflation or increase spending on infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>While the majority of Biden&#8217;s 2020 voters in the poll (78 percent) approved\u200b of his performance as president, his overall approval rating among all respondents was\u2063 only 40 percent.<\/p>\n<p>However, \u200bthere is a critical division among Biden&#8217;s 2020 \u2062voters.\u2062 Those who don&#8217;t approve of his performance are twice\u200b as likely to consider inflation as \u2062America&#8217;s biggest problem, compared \u200cto\u200c those who believe the president is doing a\u2062 good\u2064 job. \u200dThose who approve of Biden are more \u2064concerned about the dangers of political extremism.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The difference is \u2062the \u2063focus\u2062 on inflation and the cost of living,&#8221; said Chris Jackson, a\u2062 public opinion researcher at polling\u2063 firm Ipsos. He added that there is still time for Biden to win back his wavering supporters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They are not off the board. They materially need to be feeling better\u200d and they have to think Biden is doing something,&#8221; Jackson said.<\/p>\n<p>The poll \u2063results indicate a lack of enthusiasm\u2064 for Biden and highlight the risks that\u200d Democrats may not have strong turnout\u2062 at the polls next year. Additionally, independents who voted Democratic in 2020 could\u200c potentially switch to voting Republican in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Under Biden, U.S. households have faced the most severe inflation in\u2063 decades,\u200b although the rate of price increases has recently fallen significantly. Economic growth has been modest, but the unemployment rate has reached its lowest levels in decades.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&#8217;s \u2062campaign did not respond to a request for \u2063comment.<\/p>\n<p>One administration official mentioned that \u2064measures of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-at-risk-of-losing-a-quarter-of-his-voters-poll-finds\/\" title=\"Poll: Biden Could Lose 25% of Voters\">consumer sentiment show increased\u2063 optimism<\/a>, \u2062as previous Reuters\/Ipsos polling has indicated \u200cthat more people expect \u2062their own finances \u200cto improve rather than deteriorate.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u2062 another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-strategist-u-s-has-lost-confidence-in-joe-biden-heading-into-a-recession\/\" title=\"Democrat Strategist: U.S. Has 'Lost Confidence' in Joe Biden, 'Heading into a Recession'\">administration official acknowledged<\/a> last week\u200d that the\u2062 White House needs to do a better job of promoting Biden&#8217;s policy successes.<\/p>\n<p>When asked to describe how much Biden and his administration have invested in the U.S. economy, 35 percent of Biden&#8217;s 2020\u200c voters\u200b selected the option &#8220;not enough.&#8221; Meanwhile, 53 percent believed it was &#8220;about \u2064the right\u2064 amount,&#8221; 3 percent said &#8220;too much,&#8221; and the rest were unsure.<\/p>\n<p>The poll, \u200bconducted\u2064 online nationwide, gathered responses from \u200c2,009 U.S. adults with a credibility\u200c interval of about 3 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Reporting by Jason Lange\u200b and Andrea Shalal.
