These cartels have found a way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mexican-cartels-seize-control-of-us-governments-cbp-one-app\/\" title=\"Mexican cartels take over US CBP One app.\">request unlimited appointments<\/a> for individuals worldwide, surpassing the \u2064app&#8217;s intended &#8220;northern Mexico&#8221;\u200d geofence.<\/p>\n<h3>Cartels Exploit\u200b App&#8217;s Vulnerabilities<\/h3>\n<p>Former acting Department of Homeland Security\u200c secretary, Chad Wolf, expressed\u200d concern over the\u2064 administration&#8217;s lack of understanding regarding the lengths cartels will\u200d go to \u2064exploit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-accuse-biden-of-playing-political-game-over-border-crisis\/\" title=\"House Republicans Accuse Biden of Playing \u2018Political Game\u2019 Over Border Crisis\">border security measures<\/a>. As the administration continues to establish &#8220;legal pathways,&#8221;\u200c it inadvertently aids the cartels in their operations.<\/p>\n<p>An\u2064 extensive investigation revealed that the Mexican government&#8217;s National Immigration Institute ordered\u2062 immigration \u2062officials to turn away\u200d non-Mexican citizens without a CBP One app appointment. The Mexican requirement\u2063 has become a lucrative \u2064cash grab for the cartels.<\/p>\n<p>Smugglers openly advertise their VPN services in southern Mexico and \u2063on social media, \u200ctargeting Haitians, \u200bCubans, and Hondurans.<\/p>\n<h3>Impact on Border Encounters<\/h3>\n<p>The emergence of VPNs may be a contributing factor to the 30% increase in \u2063border encounters by U.S. authorities in July. This sudden surge in encounters, \u200bdespite historically being a slow time, has raised concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Since the\u200b introduction of the CBP One app, immigrants south of Mexico City had no legal means to enter the U.S. if they crossed the border \u200cillegally. The app&#8217;s \u200cgeofencing parameters complicated the\u200d cartels&#8217; operations and affected their profits.<\/p>\n<p>However, cartels quickly discovered the app&#8217;s vulnerabilities and the lack of security measures\u200d against VPN usage.\u200c This \u2062allowed them to \u200ccharge immigrants\u200d additional fees for\u2062 guaranteed entry into Mexico, attracting more\u200c people from outside \u200cthe country to travel to the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>A DHS official clarified\u2064 that the app uses phone \u2064location rather than IP addresses. They \u200balso warned that advertisements for VPN\u2064 services by \u200dbad actors are likely scams.<\/p>\n<h3>Call for \u200cStrategic Solutions<\/h3>\n<p>Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and CBP Senior Official Performing the Duties of Commissioner Troy Miller have \u2063expressed concern over the cartels&#8217; exploitation of the app \u200cbut have not presented a plan to combat it.<\/p>\n<p>House Majority Leader Steve\u200c Scalise&#8217;s office emphasized the need for legislative action to address the consequences of the Biden administration&#8217;s open border policies.
