The Democrats got tired of losing, or as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/07\/31\/biden-marc-elias-democrats-election-lawsuits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Axios<\/a> put it, Elias\u2019 approach often \u201cbackfired.\u201d   <\/p>\n<p>Elias himself does not tire of losing,\u2063 and here\u2019s why. His lawsuits\u200d \u2014 parading as a fight for \u201cdemocracy\u201d \u200bby tearing down voter \u2064ID, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-governor-signs-into-law-sweeping-election-reform-bill-including-voter-id-for-absentee-ballots\/\" title=\"Georgia Governor Signs Into Law Sweeping Election Reform Bill, Including Voter ID for Absentee Ballots\">secure drop boxes<\/a>, and signature matching\u200b \u2014 have\u200b nothing to do with our nation\u2019s \u2064interests. Instead,\u200b as Elias\u2019 allies admitted to Axios, his work is nothing\u2062 more\u200d than \u201ca political strategy that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/07\/31\/biden-marc-elias-democrats-election-lawsuits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">actually a business strategy<\/a>,\u201d one that lined \u2062his pockets with roughly $20 million\u200c in revenue from just two \u200dclients during the 2020 election, all while\u2064 generating \u2063crazed headlines about Republicans.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1364665961\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cf22065c696d799db7ef53b04763883b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cf22065c696d799db7ef53b04763883b\"><\/div>\n<p>His cynical ploy to snatch headlines and dollars hasn\u2019t slowed. Emboldened by an \u2064openly partisan Wisconsin Supreme \u2064Court, Elias\u2019 firm is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/democratic-firm-absentee-ballot-lawsuit-overturn-wisconsin-rule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suing<\/a> \u200b to dismantle Wisconsin\u2019s mail-in voting protections, like laws \u200brequiring that able-bodied \u2062voters\u200b mail or hand in \u200dtheir own ballot, arguing those laws violate\u2063 the Wisconsin Constitution. It is a frivolous claim, \u2063but a\u2064 well-funded one, by \u201cone of the most secretive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/priorities-usa-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dark-money<\/a> groups\u201d of the recent past.   <\/p>\n<p>So the left\u2019s leading \u201cdefender of democracy\u201d \u200bis no superhero.\u2062 He\u2019s a\u200c businessman first and \u2064a politician second,\u2062 nothing more.   <\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the left\u2019s \u200bnever-ending \u200conslaught \u2062of activist litigation is far more harmful \u2062to our\u2062 country than most get<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-calls-democratic-va-candidate-terry-mcauliffe-bill-clintons-bagman-in-youngkin-endorsement\/\" title=\"Trump Calls Democratic VA Candidate Terry McAuliffe Bill Clinton\u2019s \u2018Bagman\u2019 In Youngkin Endorsement\">-rich-quick schemes<\/a>. These \u2063lawsuits undermine the strength of our democratic institutions. They leave our elections exposed to manipulation and mistake. They cause people to\u2063 believe a false\u2063 tale about our states being \u200brun by racist politicians \u200band election administrators. And they\u200d deprive citizens of \u2062the \u2062very popular electoral\u200b safeguards \u200cthey themselves say provide the assurances needed\u2062 to trust our elections.    <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>This Is No Battle Against Jim\u200b Eagle<\/strong> <\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s \u2064first\u200d address \u200dthe \u200bnotion that the \u2064left\u2019s legal \u200defforts combat voter suppression. If\u2064 you listen to\u200d activists talk about the horrors of\u2063 election safeguards, \u2063you\u200c might join President Biden in believing we are reliving the horrors of Jim \u200cCrow. That, however, is\u2064 just a\u200c partisan narrative wholly divorced from reality. Study after study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eitanhersh.com\/uploads\/7\/9\/7\/5\/7975685\/effectslaws_062923.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shows<\/a> election\u200d integrity laws under assault from the left have little, \u200cif any,\u2062 effect on voter turnout. \u2063As a result, the leftist legal arguments range from the inexplicable, like would-be voters\u2019\u200d alleged inability to obtain a free, readily available \u2062ID card,\u200c to the comical, like \u2062the alleged\u2062 inability of\u200d urban and \u200bsuburban voters to access a \u200cmailbox. In fact, record \u200dnumbers of Americans \u200bare choosing to vote and expressing\u2062 high levels\u2062 of satisfaction with the process.   <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-64b06a7e7c3b3178d3a2425987b91a8c fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-64b06a7e7c3b3178d3a2425987b91a8c\"><\/div>\n<p>Still,\u200c the left claims, it must oppose election safeguards \u200cbecause those\u200b safeguards are unnecessary. Fraud, misconduct, and errors are too rare to justify preventative measures, the narrative goes. And that\u2019s where the danger creeps\u2063 in. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Close Is Not \u2064Good Enough<\/strong> <\/h2>\n<p>The truth is that sometimes electoral problems are widespread.\u200b A\u2063 second election had to be held for a congressional seat in \u2064North Carolina a \u200dfew years ago because of\u200b a scheme to steal \u2064that election using mail-in ballots. Another election \u2064was recently overturned and rerun in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/08\/20\/politics\/paterson-new-jersey-city-council-voter-fraud\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paterson, \u2062New Jersey<\/a>. In the 2020 election,\u200d without even looking very \u2063hard, Philadelphia identified nearly two dozen people who had \u200bvoted twice. \u2062And just in \u200cthis past election, an error in California resulted in the\u2062 wrong\u2063 person\u2062 being declared the winner\u2064 and taking office. <\/p>\n<p>In general, our elections are far from perfect.\u00a0Sometimes, they\u2019re not even \u201cgood\u200d enough.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>This should matter to us all. As Americans, we\u2063 deserve \u2063elections that are accurate beyond a shadow of a doubt. We deserve elections that\u2064 can be trusted implicitly. \u200bAnd we deserve elections that convey the people\u2019s true will with respect to the future\u200c paths of our country, our states, and our cities and towns \u2014 not \u200bjust their general\u200b direction.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2c7e324c58406ef45c01b469f9030935 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2c7e324c58406ef45c01b469f9030935\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sloppy Elections Sabotage Our Democratic Governance<\/strong> <\/h2>\n<p>Trust and confidence are essential elements of \u200bany system of\u2062 democratic governance. Elections conducted in an atmosphere of distrust and doubt cannot be relied upon to produce democratic results.   <\/p>\n<p>After all, \u200devery single \u200binstance of fraud, misconduct, or error deprives \u2064a\u2064 citizen of his vote. A single duplicate or otherwise unlawful vote cancels out another\u2019s vote. And even isolated incidents have a corrosive effect on citizens\u2019 trust in their\u200d elections. When\u200b courts strike down efforts to prevent such incidents, it is not surprising for citizens to\u200b begin to believe that their vote might be meaningless.   <\/p>\n<p>Indeed, a vote\u2062 lost due to \u200dfraud, misconduct, error,\u2062 or even despair, is at least as disenfranchising \u2014 if not more disenfranchising \u2014 than\u200d one lost due to an \u200dobstacle imposed by an election integrity\u200b measure. \u2063Voters affected\u200b by election integrity\u2064 measures have many opportunities to salvage their situation. They can obtain the required ID, take\u200c extra care when filling out their election materials, and can almost always fix \u200dany mistake before\u2063 the \u2064election closes. But those who lose their votes to\u2063 fraud, misconduct, \u2063error, and despair are powerless to protect their vote. They are just out\u200d of luck. <\/p>\n<p>American elections play a crucial role in determining the\u200b future of our \u2064nation.\u2064 They must take place in an environment that inspires\u2064 trust and they\u200b must produce accurate representations of the will of our citizens.\u200c Not \u2064only are the left\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-lefts-election-litigation-racket-abuses-democracy-to-line-their-own-pockets\/\" title=\"The Left's election litigation racket exploits democracy for personal gain.\">unceasing legal\u2062 efforts mere partisan<\/a>, money-making\u2062 opportunities, as is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-womens-prison-housing-trans-prisoners-halts-condom-distribution-without-explanation-memo-shows\/\" title=\"California Women\u2019s Prison Housing Trans Prisoners Halts Condom Distribution Without Explanation, Memo Shows\">openly acknowledged<\/a> across the political spectrum, they are \u2063untethered to \u200bpromoting democracy.
