The White House began promoting the term, which it\u2063 insists the press \u2062created, to make \u200cits case that the economy is strong and growing under President Joe Biden. But\u2064 the GOP uses a different\u2062 definition.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;For most Americans, &#8216;Bidenomics&#8217; \u2062means higher inflation\u200b and \u2062tax \u2063hikes \u2014 \u2062and they are not wrong,&#8221;\u200d Republican \u200cNational Committee spokesman\u2062 Jake Schneider said. &#8220;Since Biden took office, prices have skyrocketed by 16.6% and real \u200cwages have plummeted by three percent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There are plenty of\u200b numbers the\u2063 Biden administration can point to\u200b that signal a\u2062 healthy economy. Gross \u200bdomestic product is up,\u2063 inflation\u200d is elevated but falling, and unemployment is below 4%.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s a contradiction\u2062 that may explain\u200c why Team Biden\u2064 is focusing so much energy on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-biden-pollster-warns-most-americans-are-pissed-says-democrats-are-facing-really-sour-environment\/\" title=\"Top Biden Pollster Warns \u2018Most Americans Are Pissed,\u2019 Says Democrats Are Facing \u2018Really Sour Environment\u2019\">economic messaging<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Polls \u200dconsistently show\u2063 that voters\u200d do not feel so hot about the way things are going. A recent CBS-YouGov\u200c survey, for example, found that 70% of respondents felt their\u2064 income was not keeping up\u200c with inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Just 13% said \u2063they&#8217;re getting ahead financially, and \u2063the four most commonly used words to describe the economy \u200bwere &#8220;struggling,&#8221; &#8220;uncertain,&#8221; &#8220;unfair,&#8221; and\u2062 &#8220;punishing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Biden is pushing to change perceptions, \u200dsaying his plans beat \u200c&#8221;trickle-down&#8221; Republican policies while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-and-republicans-duke-it-out-to-define-the-economy\/\" title=\"Biden and GOP clash over economy definition.\">plugging increased infrastructure spending<\/a> and the ways his government will build the middle class.<\/p>\n<p>The White House is \u2063hoping to\u200c align \u2062public perception with the improving economic statistics, argues progressive economist David \u200dMadland.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I \u200dsee this as\u2062 kind of a lag, and my expectation \u2062is that as the economy continues on its current trajectory, the public&#8217;s\u200b mood will start to improve,&#8221; Madland, a\u2062 senior fellow at the Center\u200b for American Progress, said. &#8220;Over time, people&#8217;s perceptions of the economy will more closely \u2063match\u2063 the reality.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There&#8217;s plenty of ground to make up. Biden&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disaster-joe-bidens-economic-ratings-are-worse-than-jimmy-carters-cnn-poll-finds\/\" title=\"DISASTER: Joe Biden\u2019s Economic Ratings Are Worse Than Jimmy Carter\u2019s, CNN Poll Finds\">economic approval rating<\/a> \u2063is just 38.3%, \u200d4 points below his overall \u200crating.<\/p>\n<p>GOPers are working to craft their \u200bown economic messaging \u200dto take advantage of voter misgivings. \u2062On Monday \u2062in New Hampshire, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) unveiled \u2063his Declaration of Economic Independence plan.<\/p>\n<p>The 10-point plan, DeSantis says, \u201cwill reverse the decline\u2064 of our nation\u2019s struggling economy and fight for the middle class\u200c by taking on the elites, DC bureaucrats, and Communist \u2064China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It includes a mix of traditional Republican talking points\u2062 about \u2064cutting\u200c government spending \u2063and waste with more populist ideas about \u2064creating an &#8220;industrial revival&#8221; and making the United States a top destination for skilled trades.<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis \u200cand \u200bother 2024 hopefuls will continue hitting \u200cBiden over his economy. The question is\u200d who voters believe \u200cand\u2064 how they\u200d feel about the state \u200cof things next fall.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200b risk\u2064 for Biden is that even if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-household-debt-reaches-all-time-high-of-15-trillion\/\" title=\"US Household Debt Reaches All-Time High Of  Trillion\">measures continue<\/a> to\u2064 improve, talking up \u200dan improving \u200bsituation could backfire if \u200bvoters don&#8217;t\u200b agree. A\u200d recession that ran from the\u2062 summer of \u200c1990 to early\u200c 1991\u2062 is widely\u2064 believed to have helped \u200bBill Clinton oust George H.W. Bush in 1992, even though it was long over by\u2064 Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The state of the economy is among the\u2062 most important things \u200bfor an incumbent&#8217;s reelection,&#8221; Madland \u2064said. &#8220;Biden feels like\u2063 he has a strong record to run on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>CLICK\u200c HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/p>\n<p>But American Action Forum President Douglas Holtz-Eakin argues that Biden has a long way \u200cto go to convince an electorate that still remembers what prices were in 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The economy has hung in there better than \u2062expected, but better than a recession is not \u200dthe same as improving,&#8221; he said. \u2063&#8221;[Democrats are] doing a\u200c lot of fiscal\u2063 stimulus to try to make this\u200c look good, but the flip side is you don&#8217;t\u2063 get diminished inflation.
