That \u200cdeep, aching, existential pain lamenting our civilizational decline: things cannot \u2063continue like this, and we know who\u2019s causing it. They haunt our institutions while facilitating the dissolution of our social fabric.<\/p>\n<p>I refer, of\u200c course, to\u2062 the scourge\u200d of \u2064superheroes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1912594251\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3632fb72717a5352b3b5b68c695be739 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3632fb72717a5352b3b5b68c695be739\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Did We Get Here?<\/h2>\n<p>Since the turn of the century,\u2064 there \u2062have been dozens of\u200c superhero movies \u200dand TV shows (primarily produced by Marvel and DC\u2063 studios, respective \u200dsubsidiaries of Disney and Warner Brothers). And despite \u2063the \u2063mid-to-late 20th\u2064 century similarly churning\u2063 out cinematic \u2062adaptations of\u200d various \u2064caped crusaders\u2019 escapades \u2014 and Fox\u2019s \u201cX-Men\u201d franchise kicking off right at \u2062the\u200c start of the millennium \u2014 the genre found a\u2064 steadfast foothold in the post-9\/11, Great \u2062Recession digital era.<\/p>\n<p>Due, in equal part, to the groundswell in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/never-tell-me-the-odds\/\" title=\"\u2018Never Tell Me the Odds\u2019\">computer-generated imagery<\/a> (CGI)\u200b technology and the West\u2019s\u200d newfound sense of vulnerability, superhero \u200cmovies provided people with comforting and aesthetically\u2063 engaging stories of interesting\u2064 and self-actualized \u2063men\u200d and women who fought the good fight by taking \u200cmatters into their own hands. People could easily escape their social \u200band economic woes by flocking to the theaters to \u2062see Tobey \u200bMaguire web up petty crooks, Robert Downey \u2064Jr. take on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-hoft-from-tgp-presents-at-transform-washington-on-january-6-web-conference-video\/\" title=\"Joe Hoft from TGP Presents at \u201cTransform Washington on January 6\u201d Web conference (VIDEO)\">military-industrial complex<\/a>,\u200d Christian Bale attempt to restore order \u200cto a city overrun by nihilistic cynicism, \u200cand Henry Cavill ponder what it truly means to be\u200b human.<\/p>\n<p>These movies were generally well-made and very positively received \u2062by critics and consumers, alike. \u200dBut\u200d most importantly, they were profitable, and as \u200bsuch more were ordered by studio execs.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the positive critical and \u2064commercial response to things like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Christopher Nolan\u2019s Dark\u200b Knight Trilogy, global markets exploded \u2062with all sorts of superhero merchandise while\u200b screen projects continued\u2064 at a breakneck pace. And to\u200b be fair, the \u2064consumerist thirst \u200ccould not\u200b be quenched\u200b \u2014 people \u200dgenuinely loved these things. Centuries from now, archeologists will unearth\u200b thousands\u200c of plastic cups proudly proclaiming \u201cHulk Smash\u201d and \u201cMade in China.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-102b0df3e3fd5d36c2be96e5d4f76423 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-102b0df3e3fd5d36c2be96e5d4f76423\"><\/div>\n<p>But studios grew cocky and self-righteous \u2014 many such cases in Tinseltown!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Rise\u2062 Of Capeslop And Superhero Flanderization<\/h2>\n<p>During the glut of superhero content throughout the\u2062 2010s and early 2020s (particularly the\u2063 Covid years),\u200b leftwing political\u200c themes like feminism, environmentalism, Western resentment,\u200d and racial\u2062 grievance became thematic focal points of tentpole Hollywood productions.<\/p>\n<p>Coastal \u2062elites have\u200c always heavily skewed leftwing, a \u2062fact which no serious person \u200ddenies. With each release of duds like \u201cWonder Woman 1984,\u201d \u201cBlack Adam,\u201d \u201cShazam! Fury\u2064 of the Gods,\u201d and \u201cThe Flash,\u201d DC leaned heavily into feminist resentment and anti-Western chauvinism while writing quality\u200d circled the drain.<\/p>\n<p>Content \u200cquality rapidly declined, as indicated\u2064 by the <a href=\"https:\/\/thedirect.com\/article\/warner-bros-dc-superhero-box-office-flops\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">genre\u2019s<\/a> \u2062 many <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/dxFNLPCctMk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flops<\/a>, while the sanctimony\u2062 continued to ramp\u2064 up.<\/p>\n<p>The fictional characters and situations \u2062that provided people with years of escapism and release gave way to genre deconstruction and cynicism while beloved cultural figures became \u2064Flanderized\u200b versions of themselves, with an over-emphasis on minor attributes such as race, sex, or speech pattern to the point of\u200c consuming the character.<\/p>\n<p>The genre became\u200c slop, and the audience was expected to consume it\u200d and ask for more.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Going the Way Of \u200bthe Western\u2026Sort Of<\/h2>\n<p>The \u201cgolden age\u201d of the Western lasted roughly from 1940 to 1960.\u2062 Due to saturation in content and what became \u200bpredictable formulaic storytelling, the genre faded\u2063 in popularity \u2014 and these, compared to contemporary cinema, were largely apolitical. At least, these filmmakers weren\u2019t\u2062 blatantly antagonistic to their audiences. There were simply too many\u200b Westerns and people got bored.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, people are\u200b less and less excited \u200dto \u2064rush to the theater to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/meaningful-superhero-movies-like-the-flash-shine-amid-hollywoods-formulaic-film-overkill\/\" title=\"\u2018The Flash\u2019 and other meaningful superhero movies stand out amidst Hollywood\u2019s formulaic film overload.\">comic book adaptations<\/a> these days. Ticket sales are decreasing as \u201csuperhero fatigue\u201d increasingly \u200dappears to be\u200b a real phenomenon.
