All except the\u2063 one \u200din 2020: \u200cI picked \u200dTrump to win.<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Yes, I \u200cknow, plenty of readers will say,\u2063 \u201cYou\u200b were right about that one, too! Trump did win! It\u2019s just that the \u200c\u2018Commiecrats\u2019 cheated!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes,\u200b the Democrats\u200b did cheat.\u2064 Not by falsifying\u2064 votes and\u2064 dumping ballots into the\u2062 river. Maybe some of that did happen \u2014 and \u2063both parties have their share of cheating, by \u200bthe way \u2014 but \u200dnot enough to\u2062 sway the election.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2064 did it for the Democrats\u2064 was \u200dballot harvesting.\u200b Outhustling the \u2064Republicans, often by circumventing the law, tapping into unlikely voters, placing drop boxes in heavily Democratic neighborhoods, doing mail-in ballot dumps, \u2063etc.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans seem more focused this time, and they\u2019ve vowed to do their \u200bown ballot harvesting where it is legal.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump, the GOP\u2064 front-runner, says he\u2019d like to \u200bsee\u200d voting \u200cdone only \u200bin person \u200cand \u200bonly on Election Day (with exceptions for\u200d military personnel serving abroad \u2063and those demonstrably unable to leave their homes). \u2063But until that happens, \u2064he encourages Republicans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/politics\/2023\/03\/20\/donald-trump-changes-tune-on-early-voting-mail-in-ballots-vote-harvesting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fight fire \u2062with fire<\/a> and \u2063do their own\u200b harvesting and voting by\u200c mail.<\/p>\n<h2>So, let\u2019s turn to 2024. (If you say, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter, \u2062the Democrats will cheat anyway,\u201d then\u2062 you probably won\u2019t\u2062 want to \u200cread any further.)<\/h2>\n<p>There are \u200dtwo\u200d very different stories \u2063about President Joe Biden being told\u200b in America.<\/p>\n<h3>Version 1:<\/h3>\n<p>His cognitive skills have rapidly deteriorated, as evidenced by clips in\u2064 conservative\u2062 news media of the \u2062president looking very slow and confused onstage, as if he doesn\u2019t\u2063 know where\u200c he\u200c is, \u200cor\u2064 in any case doesn\u2019t \u2062feel very comfortable being there.<\/p>\n<p>To make things worse, that bumbling, \u2062stumbling \u200cBiden\u2062 \u2014 according to Version 1 \u2014 is also having a disastrous presidency.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation is through the roof and people are going\u200c broke \u200cshopping for\u200b groceries or \u200btrying to put gas \u200din their cars. We have an unprecedented\u200b border crisis. Biden\u2019s exit\u200b from Afghanistan was another Vietnam, and\u2063 now he\u2019s pumping billions of dollars\u2063 into a corrupt\u2062 Ukrainian\u2064 government. He\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-cotton-cites-dangers-of-democrats-equality-act\/\" title=\"Sen. Cotton cites dangers of Democrats\u2019 Equality Act\">letting men compete<\/a> in women\u2019s sports and share bathrooms and\u2062 locker rooms \u200dwith them. And China is eating our lunch.<\/p>\n<p>With that type of assessment of the Biden presidency, it\u2019s no \u2063wonder so many people are convinced that there\u2019s no way in the world he could\u2019ve gained more votes than Trump in 2020, and there\u2019s no point in analyzing\u2064 2024 \u2062because the only way he can \u200bpossibly win is if Democrats cheat.<\/p>\n<h3>Version 2:<\/h3>\n<p>American democracy\u2064 came within an inch\u2063 of being destroyed by Donald Trump, who \u2062was the most unqualified, corrupt, racist, sexist, homophobic\u200b person ever \u200bto be president.<\/p>\n<p>Trump \u2014 say the Version 2 believers \u2014 kept innocent\u200c children in cages, separated from their\u200b parents; \u200dendorsed neo-Nazis, calling them \u200d\u201cvery \u200bfine people\u201d; called Mexicans \u201crapists and \u200bcriminals\u201d; bragged\u200c about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-signs-law-enforcement-bills-police-groups-respond\/\" title=\"Newsom Signs Law Enforcement Bills. Police Groups Respond.\">committing sexual assault<\/a>; and tried \u200cto overthrow the\u2064 government by encouraging his followers to storm\u200b the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. (By \u2062the way, I thoroughly debunked the\u200c 10 most commonly\u200b told untruths about Trump in my\u2064 book\u200d \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Trumped-Up-Charges-Mexicans-Rapists-Criminals\/dp\/B087L8B6GB\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&#038;qid=1690558764&#038;sr=8-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trumped-Up Charges!<\/a>\u201c)<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, they \u2062continue, democracy was saved when \u2063Americans came \u200cto their senses and voted\u200b for\u2064 Biden in 2020. No\u200c more mean tweets. No \u200dmore\u2063 being\u2064 the \u200blaughingstock\u200d of\u200d the world.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation is down. Unemployment\u2062 is \u200dalmost nonexistent. Our allies respect us again. We rebuilt America\u2019s infrastructure. We are turning to green energy, which will\u200b save \u2064our planet from extinction. Biden\u2063 is quietly effective as he has pushed through lots of bipartisan legislation during very divisive times. Yeah, he\u2019s \u2062getting old, but that\u2019s what\u2019s great about him. He has so \u2064much experience, and\u200b it shows. He\u200b gets \u200bthings done! He\u2019s another FDR!<\/p>\n<p>The \u2064two versions are obviously as different\u200b as can be. Each is brought to \u2062us on a daily basis from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scaros-think-biden-has-no-chance-in-2024-dont-forget-jimmy-carter-in-1980\/\" title=\"Don't underestimate Biden in 2024, just like Carter in 1980.\">favorite comfort food feeding troughs<\/a>, a.k.a media outlets.\u2062 But there\u2019s a tremendous imbalance in viewership among the sources.<\/p>\n<p>Version 1 is being\u2063 conveyed\u200d by Newsmax, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ken-paxtons-attorney-cancels-news-conference-after-gag-order-issued-over-impeachment-trial\/\" title=\"Ken Paxton's attorney cancels press conference due to gag order on impeachment trial.\">conservative talk \u2062radio<\/a> (and podcasts), and by the\u200c very few conservatives\u200c remaining on Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>Version 2 is being delivered by ABC, CBS, \u2063NBC, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, The\u2062 New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, \u2062Philadelphia\u200d Inquirer, USA Today (yes, they\u2019ve veered leftward!), a\u2064 growing \u200bnumber\u2062 of \u2064pundits on Fox News,\u2062 academia (our children\u2019s teachers and professors), and\u2062 Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>Guess which version\u2064 has more \u2064viewers and listeners.<\/p>\n<p>Very importantly, there are few people who\u2062 actually \u2062consider both versions. Human beings are\u200d naturally averse to challenging\u2063 themselves to think\u2064 outside the box. They are comfortable in having made \u2062up their minds\u2063 that their side is correct and the other\u200c side \u200bis wrong, and \u200bthe\u2062 news presented from their \u200bpoint of view is all they want to hear.<\/p>\n<p>But \u200dlet\u2019s turn back to 1980.<\/p>\n<p>Under President Jimmy Carter, \u200cthe country was in a state\u2062 of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/billofrightsinstitute.org\/essays\/jimmy-carter-and-the-malaise-speech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">malaise<\/a>.\u201d The Iran hostage crisis was frustrating \u200dand humiliating. Inflation and unemployment combined (call it \u2063stagflation or the \u201cmisery index\u201d \u2014 either way, it \u200dwasn\u2019t\u2063 pretty) were staggering. There were gas lines around the block\u2062 amid an energy\u2063 crisis, and all the president could do was\u200b shrug his\u2063 shoulders \u200dand tell us to\u200d turn down the thermostat.<\/p>\n<p>Yet in January 1980, six\u2062 months closer to that year\u2019s \u2064election than we are now \u2062to the \u2063one\u2063 in 2024, the hapless Carter\u2063 held \u2063a whopping <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/archive\/politics\/1980\/01\/03\/carter-gains-59-36-lead-over-reagan\/dd71a91a-5242-4bd6-ab13-71790573f157\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">23-point lead<\/a> over\u200d Ronald Reagan in the polls.<\/p>\n<p>Granted, Reagan won the election, and by a <a href=\"https:\/\/uselectionatlas.org\/RESULTS\/national.php?year=1980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wide margin<\/a>, \u200cbut many things accounted for that:\u200d liberal John Anderson\u2019s independent run, Carter pulling out \u2064of\u200b one debate and looking awful in another, and the country discovering Reagan and falling in love \u2062with his words of inspiration and reassurance.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c point is that even as the nation wallowed in\u2064 malaise after three years \u200dof Carter, most were willing to vote for him again.<\/p>\n<p>That means that a horrible economy and trouble around the \u200bworld\u200c are by themselves not\u200c enough to ensure that a president \u2064won\u2019t\u2063 win \u200bre-election. On top of that, \u200dBiden\u2019s likely \u200cgeneral election rival is Trump, who never made it past the low 40s in\u2063 approval \u2062ratings and who is \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-exploits-lobbying-loophole-to-dodge-disclosure\/\" title=\"China Exploits Lobbying Loophole to Dodge Disclosure\">facing multiple indictments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line: Whoever wants \u2063to take\u200c the presidency away from Joe Biden needs to \u2062take him \u2064seriously. Scoffing that he has dementia isn\u2019t\u200c going to do\u200c it.\u200d Remember, Version 2 has a much \u2063bigger audience, and they\u2019ve never been exposed \u200cto \u200dVersion 1.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an uphill battle to beat Biden,\u200c even with all his shortcomings.
