antiquity, \u2064countries have deployed\u200d and been victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/every-republican-presidential-hopeful-had-better-be-ready-for-the-trump-treatment\/\" title=\"Every Republican Presidential Hopeful Had Better Be Ready For The Trump Treatment\">information operations launched<\/a> against \u2064each other.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/topics\/psychological-warfare.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">objective<\/a> \u2062 of such\u2062 operations has been to influence \u201cthe opinions, emotions, attitudes, and \u2062behavior\u201d\u2064 of target audiences to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/does-the-u-s-need-a-new-strategic-paradigm\/\" title=\"Does the U.S. Need a New Strategic Paradigm?\">achieve strategic goals<\/a> through the \u201cplanned use of propaganda and other psychological \u200coperations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When one thinks \u2063of information operations, however, \u2064one often \u2064focuses on those deployed by adversaries and enemies of the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Two\u200d countries have earned the reputation\u2064 of\u200b being specialists in this \u200dfield \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-russian-fighter-jet-fired-flares-us-drone-syria-damaged-us-military-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Russia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-warns-chinas-worrying-move-beijing-must-something-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An examination of history and the present reveals that \u2063even countries America deems friendly have \u200cdeployed\u200c \u2014 and continue to\u200b deploy \u2014 information operations against the American public.<\/p>\n<p>As\u200c is the case with our enemies, \u200dthese\u200c operations alter the public\u2019s \u201copinions, emotions, attitudes \u2062and behavior\u201d\u2063 in favor of our allies\u2019\u200d own interests.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Is \u2063Ukraine \u200bManipulating Us? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The question\u200c of information \u200coperations\u200b by allies and friendly countries is crucial\u2062 today\u200b as the\u200b U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/merrick-garlands-doj-get-millions-ukraine-aid-thanks-pork-packed-omnibus-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doles<\/a> out large amounts\u2063 of\u200b money and weaponry to Ukraine to help the country fight \u2062Russia.<\/p>\n<p>With every passing day, \u200dUkrainians and pro-Ukrainian \u2063lobbyists grow more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/zelenskyy-blames-west-ukraines-failure-start-counteroffensive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pressing<\/a> \u2062 in their \u2064demands for advanced weaponry.<\/p>\n<p>This \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-putin-issues-dire-warning-us-cluster-bombs-delivered-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">risks<\/a> escalation and \u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GunterFehlinger\/status\/1684599635254312967?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">greater<\/a> U.S. involvement in what is a regional war. \u200bSuch interventions come\u2062 with the\u2062 danger \u2064of turning an \u2064armed conflict between two neighbors into a nuclear \u200dhot \u2063war between two great powers.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine lobbyists and pro-Ukraine\u200b activists employ a vast \u2064array of tools to manipulate American audiences into \u200dletting go of inhibitions concerning direct intervention in, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2-gop-reps-signed-send-f-16s-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">escalation<\/a> of, the \u200bconflict.<\/p>\n<p>But before examining Ukrainian\u200c information\u2064 operations at \u2062present, it is essential to \u200dunderstand the history of \u200binformation \u2063operations launched by friendly countries\u2063 against the American public.<\/p>\n<h3>U.S. Isolationism and\u200c World War\u200d II<\/h3>\n<p>There is no\u200d better example\u2064 of such operations in American history\u200c than British propaganda in World War II aimed\u200c at peddling war to a reluctant American \u200bpublic.<\/p>\n<p>Avoiding entanglements in Europe was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ncaa-unequivocally-supports-transgender-student-athletes\/\" title=\"NCAA \u2018Unequivocally\u2019 Supports Transgender Student Athletes\">long-standing policy<\/a> of the U.S. \u2014 since the time of \u200bGeorge Washington.<\/p>\n<p>This policy is best described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brainyquote.com\/quotes\/thomas_jefferson_157206\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">words<\/a> of former President Thomas\u2063 Jefferson: \u200c\u201cPeace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances \u2064with none.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though \u2062the U.S. took part in\u200d World War I after the\u200d sinking of \u200dthe Lusitania and the Zimmerman\u2064 telegram,\u200c once the war\u2063 ended, the country returned to focusing inwards.\u00a0For \u200dexample, despite the desires\u200d of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/princeton-university-purging-racist-president-woodrow-wilsons-name-college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Woodrow Wilson<\/a>, the Senate managed to prevent \u200dthe U.S. from\u200c becoming part \u200bof the League of Nations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalww2museum.org\/war\/articles\/great-debate#:~:text=Isolationists%20believed%20that%20World%20War,and%20avoid%20antagonizing%20either%20side.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isolationism<\/a> \u200b \u2014 the belief\u2063 that \u2062the war \u2063in Europe is a European \u2063conflict, where the U.S. is better off remaining on the sidelines \u2014 \u2063was \u2064prevalent.<\/p>\n<p>After\u200c World War\u200d II began, neutrality advocates called for both \u200bbuilding \u200cup the \u200cU.S.\u2019s economy and military capabilities and avoiding\u200c taking a side in the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>Isolationists stressed that the U.S.\u2019s geographical endowments, with the Pacific and Atlantic serving as potent moats, protected the \u200cU.S. from what were \u2064European problems.<\/p>\n<h3>The British Need to Manipulate Allies<\/h3>\n<p>For the British, however, the prevalence of U.S. isolationism was bad news.<\/p>\n<p>As Germany\u2064 mowed through Poland\u200b and France, \u200claunching air\u2064 raids into the British Isles, \u200dboth Greece and Crete were lost.<\/p>\n<p>The\u200c British soon realized that this was a war they could not win by themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Only if Uncle Sam joined the fray would Britain be \u2063able \u200bto turn the \u2062ominous tide, though \u2062an early intervention was not in American interests.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I must make\u2064 clear that I am not necessarily saying American intervention in World War II after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gary-sinise-met-wheelchair-bound-pearl-harbor-survivor-nobody-expected-seven-words-vet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pearl Harbor<\/a> was\u2062 wrong per se, but rather if the U.S.\u2063 interfered and\u200c joined the war in Europe before Pearl Harbor just because terrible atrocities were happening, that would have been a premature move.<\/p>\n<p>Premature moves risk weakening\u2062 countries and leaving them worse off \u2014 \u200cregardless of any noble \u200cintentions.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The British Propaganda Campaign<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>To try and convince Americans to neglect their rational\u200b self-interests,\u200d the British engaged in an elaborate propaganda campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Taking advantage of American distaste towards Nazism, as Justus Drew Doenecke \u2064noted\u2063 in \u200bhis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.org\/publications\/tir\/article.asp?id=481\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">review<\/a> of Nicholas John\u2064 Cull\u2019s book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Selling-War-Propaganda-Campaign-Neutrality\/dp\/0195111508\">Selling War: The British\u2064 Propaganda Campaign Against American \u2018Neutrality\u2019 in World War\u200b II<\/a>,\u201d\u2063 Britain would tactically release \u2062accounts of life under\u2062 Nazi \u200doccupation.<\/p>\n<p>The goal here was to \u2014 as an officer working in British propaganda said, according \u200bto Doenecke \u2014 \u201cmake friends\u200c friendlier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through relations with the American press, Doenecke \u200cnoted, the\u2062 British \u2064deliberately propagated photographs\u200b of\u2063 bomb\u2062 damage considered too horrendous and gruesome for domestic circulation.<\/p>\n<p>The British also managed to \u2063trick U.S.\u2063 President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/boris-johnson-says-joe-biden-like-churchill-roosevelt-ww2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Franklin\u2063 Delano Roosevelt<\/a> with their use of disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>According\u200b to reporting from\u2064 the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/10\/02\/the-fake-news-that-pushed-us-into-world-war-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> in \u20632019, Roosevelt tried to convince the American\u200b public to join \u200bthe fray\u2062 during an October 1941\u2064 talk at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>Roosevelt claimed he possessed a \u200c\u201csecret map\u201d made \u2062by the Nazi government on how\u200b to \u201creorganize\u201d South and Central\u200d America and a document by the German government detailing \u2064how to\u200b get rid of world religions.<\/p>\n<p>Although the\u2064 crowd \u2063was \u2063enraged by what \u200dthey thought were appalling \u200drevelations, both \u2062the\u2062 \u201csecret map\u201d and plan to eradicate religions were false documents crafted by Canadian spy William Stephenson who \u200doperated out of the\u200d Rockefeller Center, \u2064the Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>These are but a few examples of the many information operations\u200d carried out by the British to try and manipulate Americans \u200dinto\u200b prematurely entering the war.<\/p>\n<p>They\u200b bare\u200d striking similarities to those carried out by modern-day\u2062 advocates of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Asking\u200c For Weapons, Hoping For Much More<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As Cull \u2064noted, in February 1941 when then\u200b British Prime \u2062Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-british-prime-minister-dismayed-london-hides-winston-churchill-statue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Winston \u200bChurchill<\/a> told\u2064 Americans, \u201cGive\u2063 us the tools, \u2064and we will finish the job,\u201d in an attempt at downplaying \u200bhis desire for direct U.S. \u2064involvement, he was actually desiring more than \u201ctools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Churchill\u2019s statements\u2062 for contemporary observers are eerily like\u200b those of Volodymyr\u2062 Zelenskyy and other Ukrainian politicians.<\/p>\n<p>As some critics of entanglement in Ukraine would point out,\u200c even though \u200dUkrainian officials call\u200b for weapons\u200b to \u201cfinish the job\u201d by themselves, they\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/01\/25\/opinion\/russia-ukraine-escalation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">desire<\/a> direct \u200dNATO involvement, so they won\u2019t\u200c be fighting Russia alone.<\/p>\n<p>British propaganda \u2063in its own\u200c time was\u200c similarly subtle.<\/p>\n<p>This was to\u2062 ensure attempts to egg the U.S. to intervene weren\u2019t aggressive enough to provoke isolationist resistance.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, \u2064the British \u200demployed\u200c tools \u200bcommonly used by Ukrainian officials and \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dont-trust-ukraine-ally-using-same-propaganda-trick-britain-used-to-ease-us-into-wwii-part-one\/\" title=\"Beware Ukraine: 'Ally' Employing WWII Propaganda Tactic - Part One\">diaspora lobby \u2062groups today<\/a> to manipulate \u2064American foreign policy: atrocity propaganda, relationships with\u200d journalists and the use of \u2062misinformation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/two-raging-liberals-get-scared-off-twitter-musk-cesspool-racism-anti-semitism-disinformation\/\" target=\"_blank\"
