Abolfazli claims that Jones&#8217;s\u2064 vote was\u2062 influenced by her religious beliefs, which she expressed \u2063during the debate on the \u2064issue. Jones reportedly stated, &#8220;My\u200b God does not make mistakes. He creates each of us as he chooses. I\u200c will\u200d vote no. Thank\u2062 you.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to\u2062 the complaint,\u200c Jones&#8217;s religious faith should not have been a \u2064determining factor \u200din her vote, as it shows improper influence on her\u2063 official duties. However, policy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-rules-north-carolina-abortion-ban-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Court Rules North Carolina Abortion Ban Unconstitutional\">advocacy groups argue<\/a> that sanctioning Jones for referencing her religious faith would infringe upon her religious liberty and free speech rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Support for Jones<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aaron Gulbransen, the \u200bexecutive director \u200cof the Tennessee Faith and Freedom Coalition, voiced \u200bsupport for Jones&#8217;s vote. Taxpayer funds\u200b should \u200bnot \u2064be used for such surgeries.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gulbransen also criticized the ethics complaint, calling it a &#8220;disgusting&#8221; attack on Jones&#8217;s faith and a violation of her First Amendment rights.\u2064 He\u2063 emphasized the importance of\u2062 respecting both free speech and freedom of religion.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Discrimination\u2062 or Misunderstanding?<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Former Tennessee state Senator David Fowler,\u200d president\u2063 of the\u2063 Family\u2063 Action Council Tennessee (FACT), argued that Abolfazli&#8217;s \u200bcomplaint was\u2063 an example of discrimination. He\u2062 stated, &#8220;It is tragic when the chair of Davidson County&#8217;s Human \u200bRelations Commission fails to understand that every decision \u2063a\u200d person makes rests on some belief about God.
