Wei, 22, was taken into custody for espionage-related charges upon arriving for work at the homeport of the Navy\u2019s Pacific Fleet\u2064 in California.<\/p>\n<p>According\u200b to \u200bU.S. officials, Wei is accused of conspiring to send <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-rips-trump-for-doing-the-same-thing-the-obama-administration-did\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Rips Trump For Doing The Same Thing The Obama Administration Did\">national defense information<\/a> to a Chinese intelligence officer. In exchange for his\u200c betrayal, Wei received thousands of dollars and disclosed sensitive information about the locations of Navy ships, defensive weapons, technical and mechanical manuals. Zhao, 26, is charged with\u200d conspiracy and receipt of a bribe for transmitting sensitive military information to a Chinese official posing as a \u200cmaritime\u2063 economic researcher.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities \u2063allege that Zhao secretly recorded photographs and videos of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-bid-to-waive-sanctions-on-iranian-terrorists-could-derail-nuclear-deal\/\" title=\"Biden Bid To Waive Sanctions on Iranian Terrorists Could Derail Nuclear Deal\">classified military information<\/a> and transmitted them\u2063 to the foreign \u2062officer between August 2021 and May 2023. The Chinese intelligence officer paid Zhao approximately $14,866 in\u2064 exchange for classified controlled\u2062 operational plans for a large-scale U.S. military exercise in the\u2062 Indo-Pacific Region.
