Now your \u2063feed is divided into two \u200cparts: \u201cfollowing\u201d and\u200d \u201cfor you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This \u2062\u201cfor\u200d you\u201d functionality\u200d uses Twitter\u2019s preferences\u200b and algorithms to suggest tweets that you might like. It would be a wild understatement to say that \u201cfor you\u201d is a mixed \u2064bag in real life.<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand,\u2063 \u201cfor you\u201d does actually do\u2064 what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elon-musk-suggests-covid-vaccine-might-responsible-lebron-james-sons-cardiac-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Musk<\/a> said it was intended to do, which is introduce Twitter users and their tweets into \u2064your timeline in \u2062areas that interest you.<\/p>\n<p>But it does a lot more than that. \u2062Because of the use of what have become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/solomon-how-a-new-twitter-feature-might-lead-to-the-platforms-demise\/\" title=\"New Twitter Feature Could Cause Platform's Demise, Solomon Warns.\">artificial \u2062blue verification checks<\/a>, the Twitter algorithm seems to be stacked against us \u200bas readers. \u200bI find with each passing week \u200bthe content that appears in my \u200d\u201cfor you\u201d feed ranges from irrelevant to deeply tasteful. It certainly has little to nothing to \u2062do\u2064 with the topics I actually follow.<\/p>\n<p>If this continues as it has over\u200c the past couple of months, Twitter may\u2062 be close to violating its own terms of service.<\/p>\n<p>As New York lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cooper-law.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">William Cooper<\/a> said, \u201cIf Twitter essentially becomes a propaganda \u200bmachine,\u200c by only serving up contact in \u2018for you\u2019 section that it wants to \u200dserve, rather than what the user has asked for, there could be a\u2064 legal argument that this runs counter to what we agreed upon in the terms of \u200bservice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even if this turns out not to be a terms\u200d of service violation, it is fundamentally a change in the user experience. We now have to \u2063check to\u2063 see whether \u200dthe\u2064 tweets we \u2063are reading are tweets that\u2063 we want \u2014 i.e., from the accounts we follow\u2064 \u2014 or tweets that are being served to us by the\u2063 company whose\u2064 service we are using.<\/p>\n<p>This really isn\u2019t the way Twitter was designed to work.<\/p>\n<p>From Day One, Twitter was about all\u200c of\u2064 us having the freedom\u200d to follow the people we want, digest the content we want, and not have to be inundated with a lot of content that we\u2019re \u200bnot interested in. Now, the \u201cfor you\u201d section seems to be \u2063building an entirely different foundation from the \u200cone upon which Twitter was \u200dbuilt.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, this is the biggest of big deals for Twitter.
