Jean Carroll after \u200bprosecutors said it contained \u200dinformation relevant to former\u200d President Donald Trump&#8217;s\u200b alleged &#8220;hush money&#8221; case.<\/p>\n<h3>Subpoena Issued for Trump&#8217;s Video\u2063 Deposition<\/h3>\n<p>The \u200bManhattan District\u2063 Attorney&#8217;s Office\u2064 issued a subpoena on June 20 to obtain information \u2063related to Trump&#8217;s \u2063video deposition in the Carroll case. District Attorney Alvin Bragg \u200bcharged the former president earlier \u2064this year with 34 felony counts of falsification\u200c of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michael-cohen-confirms-he-will-be-rebuttal-witness-in-manhattan-district-attorney-hush-money-inquiry\/\" title=\"Michael Cohen to Serve as a Rebuttal Witness in Manhattan District Attorney's Hush Money Inquiry\">business records related<\/a>\u200d to a payment his former attorney made to \u200cporn\u200d star Stormy Daniels in the days before the 2016 presidential election, and Trump pleaded not guilty to the \u2064charges in April.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan said Wednesday that Bragg would be allowed to obtain Trump&#8217;s full video deposition, transcripts,\u2063 and \u200drelated exhibits from \u2064Carroll&#8217;s lawsuit,\u2063 according to a two-page filing.<\/p>\n<h3>Trump&#8217;s Legal Battles \u200cContinue<\/h3>\n<p>Trump was ordered \u200bon May \u200b9 in a separate court battle to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chris-christie-calls-trumps-claim-of-not-knowing-e-jean-carroll-ridiculous\/\" title=\"Christie: Trump's denial of knowing E. Jean Carroll is \"ridiculous.\"\">pay roughly  million<\/a> in \u200cdamages after\u2062 a New York jury found him liable for \u2062defamation after he denied raping \u2064Carroll in the mid-1990s.\u200c The former president is in the \u200bprocess of appealing the civil suit decision and is grappling with a similar defamation lawsuit also\u200b filed \u2062by \u200cCarroll.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors with\u200b Bragg&#8217;s\u2063 office sought additional details that weren&#8217;t made publicly available in the deposition from Carroll&#8217;s trial, arguing that &#8220;the way in which defendant dealt with allegations of \u2063a sexual nature by women in the \u200cmonths leading up to the 2016\u200b presidential election is clearly relevant to the allegations \u2064in the People&#8217;s case.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In \u2062filings that \u200dhave\u2062 not been made public,\u200c Trump&#8217;s lawyers sought \u200bto shield a variety of communications between Trump Organization employees and White House staff between Inauguration Day 2017 and Dec. 31, 2017. A separate effort to subpoena Melania\u200b Trump&#8217;s emails failed,\u2063 with a different judge ruling the subpoenas were overly broad.<\/p>\n<p>Bragg&#8217;s\u200c office alleged Trump\u200c engaged \u2062in a &#8220;catch and kill&#8221; \u200bscheme to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/manhattan-district-attorney-can-subpoena-deposition-from-trumps-e-jean-carroll-trial-judge\/\" title=\"Judge allows Manhattan DA to subpoena Trump's deposition in E. Jean Carroll trial.\">suppress damaging information ahead<\/a> \u2063of the 2016 election and then allegedly falsified records to conceal three payments,\u200d including a $130,000 payment that Trump&#8217;s ex-attorney Michael Cohen paid to \u200cDaniels. His March 30 indictment marked the first\u2062 time a \u2062former president had ever been charged with crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was indicted again in\u2062 a separate federal case \u2064on June 9, and prosecutors led by special counsel \u200dJack Smith initially accused him of 37 felonies related to the &#8220;willful retention&#8221; of classified records. On July 27, Smith&#8217;s office added three more counts against Trump, including two new \u200dobstruction\u200b counts and one additional account of willful retention of a \u200dclassified document.<\/p>\n<h3>Order Comes Before Third Arraignment<\/h3>\n<p>Kaplan&#8217;s Thursday order comes just hours before\u200b Trump is set \u200bto face his third arraignment after he was \u2064charged this week with four felony counts in an investigation related to \u2064alleged efforts to \u200bsubvert the 2020 \u200celection and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. He is facing one count of conspiracy\u2063 to defraud the United States, one count of conspiracy \u200bto obstruct an official proceeding, one count of\u200d obstruction of an attempt \u200cto obstruct an official proceeding, and one count \u2064of conspiracy against rights.<\/p>\n<p>Trump posted on Truth \u2062Social just before noon that he \u2064was headed to the nation&#8217;s capital for his expected 4 p.m.\u2062 arraignment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;I\u2063 AM NOW GOING TO WASHINGTON, D.C., TO BE ARRESTED FOR HAVING CHALLENGED A CORRUPT,\u200b RIGGED, &#038; STOLEN ELECTION,&#8221;<\/strong> \u2063he \u200cwrote. <strong>&#8220;IT IS A GREAT HONOR, BECAUSE I \u200cAM BEING ARRESTED \u2062FOR YOU.
