Then-Vice President Biden was \u2062only executing\u200d American \u200bpolicy \u2062\u2014 a \u2063policy supported by\u200c our allies, you see? So neither Joe nor \u200bHunter\u200c Biden did\u2062 anything wrong, the\u2064 party line goes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7517829\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-358dc99a69758691ea27192e24a08122 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-358dc99a69758691ea27192e24a08122\"><\/div>\n<p>The Washington Post\u2019s Glenn Kessler has \u2064championed this syllogism since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2019\/12\/04\/gop-tries-connect-dots-biden-ukraine-comes-up-short\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">December<\/a> 2019, but\u2062 in his mid-July 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/07\/17\/here-we-go-again-an-explosive-hunter-biden-laptop-email-needs-context\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a> \u201cHere \u200dWe \u2062Go Again: \u200bAn Explosive Hunter Biden Laptop Email Needs Context,\u201d the self<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/media-talking-points-about-the-biden-forced-firing-of-ukraines-prosecutor-are-laughable\/\" title=\"Media's defense of Biden's firing of Ukraine's prosecutor is laughable.\">-branded \u201cfact\u201d \u200b\u201cchecker\u201d refreshed<\/a> these talking points to dismiss the significance of a Nov. 2, 2015, email thread\u2062 identified by \u2063congressional\u2063 Republicans as\u200c further evidence\u2063 of Biden family corruption. <\/p>\n<p>That thread began\u2064 with an email from Burisma\u200c executive Vadym Pozharskyi to Hunter \u200dBiden, fellow Burisma board member Devon Archer, and Biden\u2019s\u200d Rosemont \u200bSeneca business partner Eric Schwerin,\u200c discussing a proposal from the \u200blobbying firm Blue Star Strategies. In that email, the Burisma \u200dexecutive complained the Blue Star proposal failed to identify the \u2062\u201cconcrete\u200c tangible results that \u200bwe set out to achieve\u200c in the first place,\u201d and also \u201cdoesn\u2019t offer any names of top US officials\u201d\u2063 or \u201cUkrainian officials (the President of\u2063 Ukraine, chief of staff, Prosecutor General)\u2064 as key \u200dtargets\u2064 for \u200cimproving Nikolay\u2019s case and\u200b his situation \u200bin Ukraine,\u201d Nikolay being the \u2062nickname\u200c of Burisma\u2019s founder and then-president Mykola \u200bZlochevsky. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf, however, this is done deliberately to be on the safe and cautious \u2063side,\u201d\u2062 Pozharskyi continued, \u201cI can understand the\u2064 rationale.\u201d\u200d The Burisma executive \u200dthen stressed\u200b that \u200bif the parties all understood the true purpose of the Blue\u200d Star engagement \u200d\u201cand all our joint efforts,\u201d they\u2062 should proceed immediately. Pozharskyi reiterated his \u201conly \u200cconcern\u201d was that they \u200bwere on the \u201csame page re\u200d our final goals,\u201d with the Burisma executive \u2064confirming\u200d that\u2063 the \u201cthe ultimate purpose\u201d was \u201cto close down\u201d \u201cany cases\/pursuits \u2064against Nikolay in Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter\u200c Biden\u2019s business partner replied to the son of the now-president,\u2062 saying, \u201cI would tell Vadym that this is definitely done deliberately to the be on the safe and \u2062cautious side,\u201d and\u200b that Blue Star \u201cunderstand[s] the scope and deliverables.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ec69537176227a89a0f67e95247343a5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ec69537176227a89a0f67e95247343a5\"><\/div>\n<p>The Washington Post \u201cfact checker\u201d acknowledged this email \u201cexchange took place about \u2063one month before then-Vice President \u2064Joe\u200c Biden traveled \u2063to Ukraine with the express purpose \u2062of seeking the removal of the country\u2019s top\u2062 prosecutor.\u201d Kessler nonetheless concluded the emails failed to implicate the Bidens\u2064 in corruption \u2064because, according to The\u200b Washington Post \u2064scribe, \u201cdocuments and interviews\u201d showed Shokin had failed \u2064to act against\u200b Burisma, which was\u200b \u201cthe reason the United States, sought his removal in \u200dthe first place.\u201d And pushing for \u2063Shokin\u2019s removal, Kessler stressed, was \u201cU.S. \u200cpolicy\u201d that Biden merely executed. <\/p>\n<p>Kessler\u2019s current spin mirrors that he and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2019\/10\/03\/what-really-happened-when-biden-forced-out-ukraines-top-prosecutor\/3785620002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">other<\/a> Biden apologists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2019\/12\/04\/gop-tries-connect-dots-biden-ukraine-comes-up-short\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pushed<\/a> when then-President Donald \u200dTrump \u200cwent public with accusations\u2064 that Biden, while \u200bvice president, forced \u200dthe Ukrainian government to \u2064fire Shokin because \u2063the \u2064prosecutor was investigating Burisma. Legacy media disregarded Trump\u2019s December 2019 allegations, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2019\/12\/04\/gop-tries-connect-dots-biden-ukraine-comes-up-short\/\">reporting<\/a> \u200dinstead\u2063 that \u200b\u201cthe investigation of Zlochevsky was largely dormant at the time of Biden\u2019s threat.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The press \u2064likewise \u2063amplified <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2019\/10\/03\/what-really-happened-when-biden-forced-out-ukraines-top-prosecutor\/3785620002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claims<\/a> made by a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-depth-admiral-and-veterans-group-respond-to-desantis-promises-for-big-changes-in-military\/\" title=\"Admiral and Veterans Group React to DeSantis' Pledge for Military Overhaul.\">foreign policy\u2064 adviser<\/a> of Biden\u2019s, Mike\u2064 Carpenter, who maintained, \u201cShokin\u2062 played the role of protecting the vested interest in the Ukrainian system.\u201d Of the fired Ukrainian prosecutor,\u2064 Carpenter reportedly said, \u201cHe \u200bnever went after any corrupt individuals at all, never prosecuted any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-will-hear-boston-marathon-bomber-execution-case\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Will Hear Boston Marathon Bomber Execution Case\">high-profile cases<\/a> of corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carpenter\u2019s \u200cclaims that Shokin \u201cnever went \u2063after any\u2063 corrupt individuals at all,\u201d doesn\u2019t square with \u2062even The Washington Post\u2019s reporting that under Shokin in February \u20622016, Ukraine had reinstated a court order to seize \u200cZlochevsky\u2019s personal property, including \u200da mansion, a luxury car, and plots of \u200dland. But while the Post attempts to explain away the renewed court order against Zlochevsky, the legacy \u2062outlet missed \u200cthe larger \u2014 and conclusive \u2062\u2014 point: Burisma\u2019s founder, Zlochevsky, \u2064and its\u2062 top executive, \u2063Pozharskyi, feared Shokin and his investigation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-95e2d05d0a366c0f31a8b035d1dd0ddf fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-95e2d05d0a366c0f31a8b035d1dd0ddf\"><\/div>\n<p>The \u2062evidence on\u200b this point is overwhelming and comes firsthand from Burisma \u2062executive Pozharskyi, whose November 2015 email to\u2062 Hunter\u200c Biden and his colleagues spoke of Burisma\u2019s \u201cultimate\u200d purpose\u201d being \u201cto close down\u201d \u201cany cases\/pursuits against Nikolay\u200d in Ukraine.\u201d Hunter Biden\u2019s business partner and \u200dfellow Burisma board member Devon Archer\u2063 has\u2062 similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-statement-on-devon-archers-testimony%25ef%25bf%25bc\/\">testified<\/a> \u2064 in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/footage-released-of-violent-myanmar-protests-after-at-least-38-people-killed\/\" title=\"Footage Released Of Violent Myanmar Protests After At Least 38 People Killed\">closed-door session<\/a> of the \u200bHouse \u200dOversight\u2063 Committee that in December 2015, Zlochevsky and Pozharskyi\u200c \u201cplaced constant pressure\u201d on Hunter Biden to get help from D.C. \u200dregarding the Ukrainian investigation. In\u200c response to such pressure, \u2064according to Archer\u2019s testimony,\u2063 Hunter \u200dBiden called his then-vice president father \u2063with Zlochevsky\u200d and Pozharskyi in tow. <\/p>\n<p>The recently released FD-1023\u200c memorandum summarizing a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/05\/highly-credible-source-reveals-scandal-bigger-than-biden-bribery-fbi-election-interference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">highly \u200ccredible<\/a>\u201d confidential human \u2063source\u2019s (CHS)\u200b reporting\u200d provides further \u200bcorroboration that Shokin was investigating Burisma\u200b \u2014 or, at a minimum, Burisma executives believed he was. According \u2062to \u2063that longtime CHS, in \u200cdiscussing\u2064 Burisma\u2019s desire to purchase an American oil\u200d and gas business, the CHS \u201ctold \u2063Zlochevsky that due\u200d to Shokin\u2019s investigation into Burisma, which was made public at\u200b this \u2063time, it would have a substantial \u200bnegative impact on Burisma\u2019s \u200cprospective\u2063 [for an Initial Public Offering] in\u2063 the United States.\u201d According to the CHS, \u200cZlochevsky\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/fd_1023_obtained_by_senator_grassley_-_biden.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">replied<\/a>, \u201csomething to the effect of, \u2018Don\u2019t worry Hunter will take care of all of those issues through his dad.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It \u200dis unbelievable that Burisma would speak \u200dof being under investigation\u2063 by \u2064Shokin and would\u200d \u201cplace constant pressure\u201d on Hunter Biden to get help from D.C. unless Shokin were investigating the Ukrainian energy company.\u200b It is plain silly for\u200c The Washington Post to pretend the evidence establishes\u2062 that \u200dShokin was not investigating\u200b Burisma. <\/p>\n<p>The second defense proffered by The Washington Post and Biden\u2019s other apologists, however,\u200b moves \u2063them\u200d from silly to laughingstocks. It\u2019s that the millions of dollars \u200cBurisma allegedly paid to Hunter\u2062 Biden were not illegal because the then-vice president was merely executing\u200d American\u200d policy. <\/p>\n<p>Initially, \u200dit is unknown \u200chow much of the \u201cShokin must be\u2064 fired\u201d policy \u200coriginated from then-Vice President Joe \u200dBiden. \u200dBut even if Joe Biden \u2062had nothing\u200d to do with formulating the policy \u200b\u2014 something unlikely given his position as the point person \u2062on \u2063Ukraine \u2014 that\u200c merely means Burisma paid Hunter Biden\u2062 (and\u2064 Joe Biden if the CHS\u2019s reporting is accurate) for something \u200dthe United \u200bStates would\u2062 have done without \u2064millions \u200dshowered on\u2063 the son\u2063 of the now-president. <\/p>\n<p>That doesn\u2019t exonerate Hunter Biden or Joe Biden: It merely\u2064 means \u2064they sold\u200b the\u200b illusion that Joe Biden had forced Shokin\u2019s firing for Burisma as promised.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8e862c3a6c2e2a0867c8b4c17bfb544d fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8e862c3a6c2e2a0867c8b4c17bfb544d\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Biden once boasted about pressuring Ukraine to fire its prosecutor general by threatening to withhold $1 billion in aid.
