(Photo by Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/taylor-tinsley\">Taylor Tinsley<\/a><br \/>4:06 PM \u2013 Wednesday, August \u200d2, \u200b2023<\/h2>\n<p>Republican presidential candidate\u2064 Vivek Ramaswamy has sued the Department of Justice over President Trump\u2019s recent indictments. <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Ramaswamy <a href=\"https:\/\/fingfx.thomsonreuters.com\/gfx\/legaldocs\/movajngebpa\/Vivek%202024%20v%20DOJ%20-20230801.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed\u200d suit <\/a>on Tuesday, saying\u200d the \u2062DOJ failed to \u200drespond to his Freedom of Information Act \u200b(FOIA) request seeking more information over Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-arrested-pence-hits-former-president-over-classified-documents-indictment\/\" title=\"Trump arrested, Pence criticizes him for classified documents indictment.\">classified documents indictment<\/a>\u200d in June. \u200dHe also filed a separate FOIA request \u2062over the \u200dformer President\u2019s January 6<sup>th<\/sup> indictment, which \u2062was handed down by a Washington grand jury on\u2064 Tuesday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cFOIA requires\u2062 federal agencies to\u200d respond to a valid request within 20 working days (exempting Saturdays,\u2062 Sundays, and legal public holidays) after receipt of such request, including\u2062 notifying the requestor immediately of its determination,\u2064 the reasons therefore, and the right to appeal any adverse determination,\u201d the filing\u200b stated. \u201cAs of\u200d July 12,\u2062 2023, at the close of business hours, \u206220 working days had passed since DOJ received the Campaign\u2019s FOIA Request.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The GOP presidential hopeful, who\u2019s running against \u200dTrump, said the indictments are based\u2064 on \u201cunprecedented legal theory.\u201d Ramaswamy \u2064argued that in the 2012 Supreme Court case of U.S. \u2064v.
