U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan gave his closing \u2064argument in the trial. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cHe turned \u2062an \u200dordinary Jewish Sabbath into the worst anti-Semitic \u2063mass shooting in U.S. history, and he is proud of it,\u201d said Olshan. \u2063\u201cThis is a case\u2062 that calls for the most severe punishment under the law \u2013 the death penalty.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On October\u200c 7, 2018, Bowers opened fire inside of\u200c the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh during Shabbat\u200d morning services. According to authorities, the gunman entered the building with\u200c an AR-15 \u200brifle \u2062and three handguns while \u2064yelling \u201cAll\u200c Jews must die!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After\u200d killing \u206411 people\u200c and injuring seven others,\u2062 Bowers was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/suspect-in-fatal-shooting-of-iowa-officer-has-long-criminal-history\/\" title=\"Suspect in fatal shooting of Iowa officer has long criminal history\">shot multiple times<\/a> by officers and taken into \u2063custody. <\/p>\n<p>Even \u2063though\u200b attorneys for \u2064the gunman raised questions as to whether he was driven by hate\u2062 or\u2063 schizophrenia when carrying out the attack, prosecutors \u200drejected the claim that\u200d the attack was related\u2063 to mental health<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t make you schizophrenic\u2062 to be happy about what you did. This \u2064defendant just happens\u2063 to be White supremacist like many other White supremacists. They\u2019re also not delusional,\u200b they\u2019re just White supremacists,\u201d a lawyer for the prosecution said\u200b during closing arguments.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The 50-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jury-sentences-synagogue-shooter-to-death\/\" title=\"Synagogue shooter sentenced to death by jury.\">spent years posting\u2064 hateful comments<\/a> about\u200b immigrants and Jewish people on social media prior to the attack. He\u200b criticized migrants as \u201cinvaders\u201d and repeatedly disparaged the Hebrew\u2063 Immigrant\u2063 Aid \u200cSociety.<\/p>\n<p>This case is the first federal death penalty imposed\u2063 under the Biden\u200c administration even though his campaign\u200d included a pledge to end capital punishment. <\/p>\n<p>Amid the attack, the synagogue\u2063 has \u200cbeen\u200d closed. The Tree of Life congregation \u2064is working on building a synagogue complex that \u200bwould house a sanctuary, museum, memorial and center for fighting anti-Semitism.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
