A few \u2064weeks ago, Gov. Glenn Youngkin and the state GOP launched Secure Your Vote Virginia, an initiative designed to assist\u200c voters in casting their ballots early by mail or in person.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSecure Your Vote Virginia is a cultural\u2063 shift for us as \u2064a\u2063 party,\u201d RPV chair Rich Anderson told The Federalist. \u201cWe believe that the Democrats have accrued an advantage \u2026 because they\u200c banked the \u200cvote early and so we\u2019re pushing that\u2064 very hard as\u2062 a safe and secure method.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While\u2064 Democrats \u2062have made\u200b unsupervised, mail-in balloting a key \u200celectoral strategy in recent years, \u200bRepublicans have largely\u2063 relied on in-person voting on Election Day.\u2062 Instead of focusing solely on getting their voters to the polls on Election \u200bDay, Virginia Republicans \u2062are hoping its newest \u200binitiative\u200d will allow the\u2063 party to \u2064maximize its overall turnout by employing \u200cthe state\u2019s early voting \u200csystem.<\/p>\n<p>On Secure Your Vote Virginia\u2019s website, \u200dstate residents are provided step-by-step instructions on \u2064how to request, return, and track their absentee ballots. It furthermore allows residents seeking to vote early in person\u2062 to sign up to receive \u200bnotifications from the initiative on \u201cwhen \u2064and where\u201d to go once early voting \u2062begins to cast their ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans \u201ccan\u2019t go into our elections \u200bdown\u200d thousands of votes,\u201d Youngkin said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mississippi-governor-signs-critical-race-theory-ban-responds-to-flat-out-wrong-criticism\/\" title=\"Mississippi Governor Signs Critical Race Theory Ban, Responds To \u2018Flat-Out Wrong\u2019 Criticism\">video message accompanying<\/a> the initiative\u2019s\u200c launch. It\u2019s worth mentioning the governor\u2019s \u20632021 campaign embraced early voting during his successful gubernatorial bid.<\/p>\n<h2>The Issues<\/h2>\n<p>While rare showings of bipartisanship \u200dfrom Virginia\u2019s Democrat-controlled \u200bSenate\u2064 have allowed GOP legislators \u200bto pass\u2064 some key\u200b measures, the leftist-controlled upper chamber\u200b has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-republicans-are-trying-to-beat-democrats-at-their-own-electioneering-game-will-it-work\/\" title=\"Can Virginia Republicans outplay Democrats in election tactics? Will it succeed?\">largely\u2064 stonewalled meaningful conservative legislation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In February, for instance, Senate Democrats blocked a parental rights bill that would\u200c have required public schools to \u200ddisclose to parents if their child \u201cself-identifies\u201d as something other \u2063than his \u2062or her \u2063natural sex. Known as \u201cSage\u2019s Law,\u201d the bill was named after a 14-year-old Virginia girl who became a victim of sex\u2063 trafficking after her school concealed her gender\u2062 dysphoria from her mother. The\u200c legislation\u2063 passed the GOP-controlled House along party lines, with \u206350 Republican supporting and\u200c 48\u200c Democrats opposing it.<\/p>\n<p>Reminiscent of its 2021 \u200bstrategy, the RPV is \u2063capitalizing on parental rights as a focal\u200b point of its messaging to voters ahead \u2063of November\u2019s\u200c elections. During the\u200b 2021 elections, issues\u200d such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-rolls-out-plan-to-rip-the-woke-out-of-americas-armed-forces\/\" title=\"DeSantis unveils strategy to eliminate woke culture from US military.\">critical race \u2064theory<\/a> and transgenderism in\u2063 schools played a\u2063 major role in\u2064 Youngkin\u2019s and\u2063 other Virginia Republicans\u2019 electoral victories.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia GOP is also \u200cmaking\u2063 crime a big\u2064 facet of its\u2062 campaign messaging, specifically \u2064the role soft-on-crime commonwealth attorneys play in allowing criminals to go unpunished for breaking the law. Last year, for \u200cexample, Fairfax County police arrested a man for beating a 63-year-old homeless \u2062woman to death. What\u2019s notable about this case, however, is that the offender had previously been charged and then released by the office of the locality\u2019s attorney, Steve Descano \u2014 a \u200cDemocrat backed by leftist billionaire George Soros.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Washington Free Beacon, Descano\u2019s office had \u2064previously charged Chante Antonio Jones \u2063with \u200cassault and battery in October 2021 \u201cbefore releasing him on recognizance,\u2064 slapping\u200c him with just a $212 fine and one-year period \u2062of supervised\u2064 probation.\u201d Notably, Descano\u2019s\u200c office also \u2062has a history of \u2064going soft on individuals \u2064charged\u200c with child sex crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though our guts are telling us that we have an opportunity [to win this fall], \u200dwe better campaign like we\u2019re 10 points down.
