In \u2063a move to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nba-nike-apple-google-silent-on-chinas-crackdown-on-journalists-in-hong-kong\/\" title=\"NBA, Nike, Apple, Google Silent on China\u2019s Crackdown on Journalists in Hong Kong\">protect user privacy<\/a>, the adult\u200d content site has preemptively barred access from several states.<\/p>\n<h3>Arkansas: The Latest State to Face \u200bthe Ban<\/h3>\n<p>Arkansas became the most recent state \u2064to have its users banned by Pornhub. The company implemented the\u200c ban just\u2062 days before the state was set to enforce age verification rules. In a statement, Pornhub expressed concerns about the\u200d effectiveness of requiring users to provide their ID cards, stating that it puts children and privacy at risk.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u200b legislature passed the Protection of Minors from Distribution \u2062of Harmful Materials Act in April, with plans \u200dto implement it this month.<\/p>\n<h3>Virginia, Mississippi, and \u2064Utah: Joining the Ban<\/h3>\n<p>Utah, Mississippi, and Virginia all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/here-are-the-states-that-pornhub-cut-off-because-of-new-age-verification-rules\/\" title=\"Pornhub cut off states due to new age verification rules.\">passed \u200dlegislation requiring\u200b age verification<\/a> for accessing pornographic sites. In response, Pornhub redirected users from these states to a separate page featuring a\u200c video by adult film performer Cherie DeVille. DeVille echoed Pornhub&#8217;s concerns \u200cabout \u2062user \u2062privacy and the potential risks to\u200b children.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin remains committed to protecting children \u2063from\u200c harmful internet content, according to a spokeswoman.<\/p>\n<h3>Louisiana: A Pioneer in Age Restrictions<\/h3>\n<p>Louisiana was one of the first states to implement age\u200c restrictions for online content. The state required users to present copies of their government-issued IDs to a state-run database in order to access \u200dpornography websites. Republican state Representative Laurie Schlegel, the bill&#8217;s \u200dsponsor, argued that\u2064 pornography was \u200dnegatively impacting children and that the industry needed to be held accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Pornhub did\u2064 not choose to restrict its website in Louisiana.<\/p>\n<h3>Other States in the Mix<\/h3>\n<p>Several other states have attempted to follow in Louisiana&#8217;s footsteps, with varying degrees of success. Texas and Montana have passed legislation but have not yet implemented it. Lawmakers in Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky,\u2064 South Dakota, and \u200bWest \u2063Virginia \u200bintroduced similar bills\u2062 but \u2063failed \u200cto get them passed \u200cbefore the end of\u2063 the legislative session.
