After the news broke, Live Nation\u2019s \u2062shares took a 5% nosedive in extended trading.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The controversy surrounding Live Nation\u2019s\u200d ticket sales practices has been\u200d a\u2062 hot topic among U.S. senators this year, who\u200c criticized\u2064 the company\u2019s opacity and\u200b its inability to prevent\u2064 ticket bots. Markey of Massachusetts wrote a letter to the attorney general saying that\u2019s not enough, noting that \u201can investigation \u2063alone does nothing\u2064 for \u2064the stakeholders already harmed by Live Nation\u2019s market dominance and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wait-hear-me-out-here-aoc-is-exactly-right-this-time\/\" title=\"Wait, Hear Me Out Here: AOC Is Exactly Right This Time\">seemingly ongoing anticompetitive behavior<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE \u200bDAILY WIRE APP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They said that the company, which controls about 60% of the market \u2064\u2014 including many of the biggest venues \u200c\u2014 \u201chas continued to abuse its \u2063dominant market \u2062position,\u201d adding that \u201cwe urge the Department to consider unwinding the Ticketmaster-Live Nation merger and breaking\u200d up \u2063the company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. \u2064Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been a leader on\u200d the issue, jumping into the fray after the November sale of Swift tickets turned into a debacle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was watching\u2063 what was going\u200d on \u2063with\u2062 the pre-release of Taylor Swift\u2019s \u200btickets,\u201d \u2062she told Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt came up on\u200b a more personal level; I actually\u2062 have quite \u200da few staff who \u200dwere \u200btrying to get tickets that day. Between seeing their experience and seeing all the people online talking about it, I think it really showed how widespread the problem is and reflects the degree of market consolidation in this industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly correct. Ticketmaster and Live Nation\u200c merged in 2010, \u2064and it\u2019s been a mess ever since.
