However, the reaction from \u2063Senate Republicans has been\u2062 more muted and splintered compared to their counterparts in the House.<\/p>\n<p>While\u200c House GOP\u2062 lawmakers were quick to condemn the charges, most Senate Republicans have chosen \u2063to remain silent. The response has been trickling in throughout the evening, but it\u200d is\u2063 far from the overwhelming support that Trump has received from House Republicans.<\/p>\n<h3>Waiting for Wednesday: Senate Republicans Hold\u200b Off on Statements<\/h3>\n<p>Offices for \u2064two GOP senators known\u2062 for their defense of\u2064 the former president\u2063 have stated that they will wait until at least Wednesday\u2062 to \u200bweigh \u200din on\u2064 the indictment. Representatives for two Trump-allied Senate Republicans have\u200c also decided to hold off on releasing statements, with no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-indicted-senate-republicans-quieter-than-house-counterparts\/\" title=\"Senate Republicans are less vocal than their House counterparts regarding Donald Trump's indictment.\">specific time \u200bframes<\/a>\u200d for when\u200d they will change their stance. Additionally, three other senators did not respond to\u200c requests for comment.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The American people have lost faith in Biden\u2019s Justice Department. They \u2063are uncomfortable watching the current president weaponize the \u200cjustice system against his political opponent,&#8221; said Sen. \u200cJohn \u2064Barrasso (R-WY), who chairs the Senate Republican Conference. &#8220;The\u200b Justice Department\u2019s own flimsy deal to\u200b save Biden\u2019s\u2063 son didn\u2019t\u2064 even \u200bhold \u200dup in court. They pointed to the \u200ddisparities between how \u200bTrump and Hunter Biden, the\u200c president&#8217;s son, have been treated.<\/p>\n<p>Not \u2063all GOP senators agreed\u2062 with this\u200b sentiment. Sen.\u2062 Mitt Romney (R-UT), a\u200b longtime Trump critic, \u2064emphasized the\u200d importance of due process and the presumption \u200cof \u2062innocence \u2064for \u200dall criminal defendants. Sen.
