The charges include \u2063conspiracy to\u200d defraud \u2063the United States, conspiracy to obstruct\u2064 an official proceeding, obstruction of and an\u200b attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and \u2063conspiracy against rights.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a flashback to Trump on Jan. 6, 2021, when he allegedly incited an \u200dinsurrection \u2063by telling people to &#8220;peacefully\u200d and patriotically make [their] voices heard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;As \u2062you know, I did nothing wrong. \u200dIt\u2019s well-documented that I told Americans\u2063 to act &#8216;PEACEFULLY&#8217;\u200c and discouraged\u2063 the use of any violence,&#8221; Trump wrote in a statement after the indictment announcement. &#8220;This is nothing but an egregious act of Election Interference and a final act of desperation from Crooked Joe as he \u200ccrashes in\u200c the polls.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Unprecedented Abuse of Power<\/h3>\n<p>Last week, Special Counsel Jack\u200b Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/28\/special-counsel-who-ignored-biden-bribery-slaps-trump-and-his-maintenance-guy-with-more-charges\/\">added<\/a> \u200dthree more charges against Trump for his alleged\u200d mishandling of \u2064classified\u200b documents. Notably, Smith \u200cturned a blind eye \u200dto the Biden\u200c family\u2019s corruption as head of the Department of Justice\u2019s (DOJ)\u200c public \u2064integrity \u2062section\u200c during the Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third indictment President Joe \u2062Biden\u2019s \u2063Department of Justice has levied against his\u2064 primary political\u2064 opponent, marking an unprecedented abuse of power usually only seen in banana republics. Biden\u2019s actions are a \u2062severe departure from the &#8220;unity&#8221; messaging\u200d he ran on ahead of the 2020 election.\u200d During a 2020 NPR interview, Biden \u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2020\/08\/13\/901679755\/one-tough-question-for-doj-if-biden-is-elected-whether-to-prosecute-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> that prosecuting Trump, his chief\u200b political rival, \u200cwould &#8220;not [be] very&#8230; good for democracy&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Selective\u200b Prosecution<\/h3>\n<p>Fast forward to this year when The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/to3OK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> \u200bthat Biden was &#8220;frustrated&#8221; with U.S.\u2063 Attorney\u2064 General Merrick Garland for not prosecuting Trump \u200cyet. The Times wrote that the president &#8220;wanted\u2062 Mr. Garland to act less like a ponderous \u200bjudge and more like a prosecutor who\u2062 is willing to take decisive action over\u2063 the events of Jan. 6.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The indictment comes only\u2064 a\u200b day after \u200bHunter Biden\u2019s former business partner, Devon Archer,\u200d testified that Biden\u200d was on more than 20 calls with his son Hunter and Hunter\u2019s business partners, who \u200dwere <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/01\/evidence-of-biden-burisma-corruption-is-overwhelming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paying for access to the Biden family<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Similarly, Trump was indicted for his alleged \u2063&#8221;mishandling&#8221; of classified documents a day after \u2063Congressional Republicans released\u200c a declassified FBI document \u200din which a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-delivers-another-blow-against-his-primary-political-rival-with-latest-trump-indictment\/\" title=\"Biden deals another blow to primary rival with new Trump indictment.\">confidential human source \u200dalleged<\/a> that Joe and Hunter Biden \u200ctook \u200ba $10 million bribe from Burisma\u2064 to fire the Ukrainian\u200b prosecutor \u200dinvestigating the energy company.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The entire Biden Administration \u200dknows that I\u2019m\u200b the ONLY candidate who would defeat Crooked Joe in a free and\u2063 fair election,&#8221; said Trump. &#8220;If these illegal \u2063persecutions\u200b succeed, if they\u2019re allowed \u2062to set fire to the law, then \u200dit will not stop with me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>summary of the charges against former President Donald Trump: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
