(Photo by James Carbone-Pool\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>OAN\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/abril-elfi\" target=\"_blank\">Abril Elfi<\/a><\/h2>\n<h3>5:20 PM\u2062 \u2013 \u200bTuesday, August 1, 2023<\/h3>\n<p>Rex Heuermann, \u200cthe suspect in\u200c the Gilgo Beach Murders, appeared in\u200c court on Tuesday for a hearing regarding the case. <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Heuermann, a 59-year-old architect who \u200dis the main suspect\u2062 in \u200cthe Gilgo Beach Murders, appeared in court on Tuesday.\u200d The alleged \u200cserial\u200d killer is being linked in connection to the murders of at\u2062 least three possible victims who were first discovered back\u2064 in 2010. <\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, prosecutors gave Heuermann\u2019s lawyer and a Suffolk County supreme court justice\u2064 a plethora of digitally-obtained evidence.\u200d Some of this evidence includes 2,500 document pages, autopsy \u2064reports, photos,\u200b and video footage taken at \u2063the suspect\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<p>According to \u200bSuffolk County \u2063District Attorney Ray Tierney, a portion \u2063of\u2063 the evidence also includes mitochondrial DNA and \u200bnuclear DNA.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cYou are talking about \u206213 years worth of \u2063investigation, so it is \u2014 I\u2019m not going to speak for defense counsel, but, suffice to say, \u200cit is \u2062a massive amount of material, and, don\u2019t forget, it\u2019s continuing,\u201d Tierney said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Asa Ellerup, the 59-year-old\u2019s former wife, has \u2063now filed for a divorce amid Heuermann\u2019s arrest. <\/p>\n<p>According to reports, authorities \u2064have been consistently searching the family\u2019s \u200bproperty.\u2064 The suspect\u2019s estranged wife and her children reportedly \u200bdo not \u200chave a bed to sleep in. \u2064She\u200d also added how her son has been\u200c forced to\u2064 sleep in a chair during the investigation.  <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cI had three cats. Litter boxes were \u200d\u2026 [strewn about], \u2062thrown on top of everything. My pictures\u2064 were thrown all over the place,\u201d Ellerup asserted. \u201cMy couch was completely shredded.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>She \u200calso claimed that she \u200chad no idea of \u2063her husband\u2019s involvement in the murders. Additionally, she claimed that\u200d things have been\u2064 chaotic for her family since the \u2063news broke\u200c and that her\u2062 children \u201ccry themselves to sleep every night.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The hearing comes amid Heuermann\u2019s charges. <\/p>\n<p>Last \u2064month, he was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder in connection with the murders of three\u2064 female victims discovered on \u200dLong Island over 13\u2062 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>After the purported suspect pleaded not guilty, his attorney, Micheal \u2064Brown, stated that his client would not \u2064take a plea deal\u2062 and \u200bthat he also plans to go to\u200c trial. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no plea deal, he said from the moment I met him that \u2018I did \u2064not do this,\u2019 so we\u2019re prepared \u200cto go forward,\u201d Brown said. \u201cWe will defend this case in a court of law and we are prepared to go to trial on this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Authorities have stated that they are\u200b actively investigating whether Heuermann is possibly linked with\u200d the death of\u200c a fourth \u200bvictim.\u2064 <\/p>\n<p>Another court \u2063hearing for September 27<sup>th<\/sup> has now\u2062 been scheduled and the case\u2019s judge issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-bombshell-mi-judge-grants-attorney-matt-deperno-permission-to-release-results-of-forensic-examination-on-16-dominion-voting-machines-in-antrim-co-video\/\" title=\"BREAKING BOMBSHELL: MI Judge Grants Attorney Matt DePerno Permission To RELEASE Results Of Forensic Examination On 16 Dominion Voting Machines In Antrim Co.
