Additionally, they must\u200c be \u2063eligible under federal law \u2063to\u200b possess a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>While this development has received\u200c criticism from Republican lawmakers, with some calling it &#8220;madness,&#8221; Governor Pritzker defends the law, emphasizing that it only applies \u200dto individuals who are legally allowed to work and\u2062 possess a\u200c gun in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, recipients of the Deferred\u200d Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are also \u2064eligible to become police officers under this\u200b new law.
