Solar energy and wind energy are reportedly not able to match demands during the peak evening hours.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, 45% of California\u2019s electricity came from natural gas, compared to \u2062the 27% that came from renewable\u200d sources. <\/p>\n<p>When solar energy technology is not operating\u2062 to\u2062 its \u200bfull potential during the evening \u200band early morning, the state\u2019s grid is dependent on fossil fuel facilities. This includes the 7 p.m. time frame when electricity usage is said to be at its peak.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Slagle, a\u2064 spokesperson for the Western States Petroleum Association, gave\u200d his opinion on\u2063 the matter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe state will need \u2062three times the electricity production \u200bwe have\u2064 today, 30 times the number of EVs on the road and energy infrastructure will \u2062need to be built at a historical pace,\u201d\u2064 Slagle said. \u201cWhile these challenges and the costs associated with them are worked through, the\u2062 facts are we \u200dneed natural gas to power our grid, even today with normal temperatures and clear skies, natural gas is the largest contributor to California\u2019s power grid.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Released data had indicated that\u2064 California relies more on natural gas, however, the state also relies on imported electricity. This energy is\u2062 primarily produced by fossil fuels and accounted for close to 11% of the total output. <\/p>\n<p>Governor\u200d Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) claims fossil fuels are the\u200c cause of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>On July 11<sup>th<\/sup> he spoke on the subject after announcing a two<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ca-depends-on-fossil-fuels-amid-heat-wave\/\" title=\"CA Relies on Fossil Fuels During Heat Wave\">-year  million educational campaign speaking<\/a> about the dangers of heat waves. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe impacts of climate change have never been more clear \u2014 the hots continue to get hotter in our state and across the\u200b West putting millions of Californians at risk,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re asking everyone to stay alert to changing weather and take the \u2064necessary steps to keep\u2063 themselves and their\u200b families safer from \u2062deadly\u200d heat waves.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Due to the heat dome over southern California, residents \u2064in\u200d various sections of the state have reportedly experienced triple-digit temperatures, and in some cases record-breaking ones. \u2062It is believed that the need for energy is rising.
