The culture created by the \u201cbody positivity\u201d movement for which Lizzo has become a mascot, however, has radically lowered the bar\u200d for what followers \u200bmight consider body shaming.<\/p>\n<p>A genuine critique\u200d of\u2062 a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3ABcjO61RTM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Grrrls<\/a>\u201d dancer\u2019s\u2063 weight \u2062would not just\u200c be out of character for the plus-size pop star, it would \u200cbe\u2064 catastrophically ironic after raking in millions by shaming such behavior.<\/p>\n<h3>The Impact of Lizzo&#8217;s Body Positivity Movement<\/h3>\n<p>The \u201cbody positivity\u201d movement, of which Lizzo has become a prominent figure, has sparked controversy. Any mention of Lizzo\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-lizzo-a-fatphobic-fake-new-lawsuit-suggests-so\/\" title=\"Lizzo accused of being 'fatphobic' in recent lawsuit.\">weight triggers routine condemnation<\/a> \u200bas fat shaming, despite her music career being built on the destigmatization of\u200d excess weight.<\/p>\n<p>Lizzo herself \u200coften claps back against criticism that she glorifies obesity by doubling down on gluttony.<\/p>\n<p>In June, the singer temporarily <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/02\/lizzo-feeling-bad-about-weight-comments-could-be-the-first-step-toward-better-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">locked<\/a> her Twitter account out of apparent frustration over online commentary about her adopted role as the \u200dqueen of body positivity.<\/p>\n<p>The truth hurts, but these \u200bwounds heal when faithfully acknowledged.<\/p>\n<h3>The Reality\u200b of America&#8217;s Obesity \u200bEpidemic<\/h3>\n<p>Nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/obesity\/data\/adult.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">42 percent<\/a> of\u2064 the\u2063 American adult population is categorically obese, according to the \u2062Centers for Disease Control (CDC). A study\u200c published last year found nearly half of those examined in a nationwide survey gained weight during \u2064the coronavirus lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>American elites from Wall Street to Hollywood have\u200b been eager \u200dto capitalize on the\u2063 modern phenomenon of millions suffering from \u200dextreme weight.\u2062 Lizzo was among the first to rise to stardom by branding her career on affirming obesity as a condition not to \u200dtreat but one to embrace.
