Governor Sheila Oliver Passes Away<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the Honorable\u200c Sheila Y. Oliver, Lieutenant Governor of the State\u200b of New Jersey. Her family shared this heartbreaking news on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Just yesterday, it was reported that Oliver, a 71-year-old Democrat, had been admitted to Cooperman Barnabas\u2063 Medical Center in \u2064Livingston for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/catholicvote-launches-3-million-ad-campaign-to-remove-catholic-democrats-from-office\/\" title=\"CatholicVote Launches  Million Ad Campaign To Remove Catholic Democrats From Office\">medical care related<\/a> to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-jersey-lt-governor-dies-of-undisclosed-health-issue\/\" title=\"NJ Lt. Governor passes away due to undisclosed health problem.\">unspecified\u200b health issue<\/a>.\u2062 She had been temporarily serving as acting governor while Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy was away.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver&#8217;s \u200dfamily released a statement through the governor&#8217;s office, saying, &#8220;She was not only a \u2062distinguished public \u2064servant but also our cherished daughter, sister, aunt, friend, \u200dand hero.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Born and raised in a vibrant and diverse neighborhood in Newark, Oliver made history as the first African American woman to serve as assembly \u2064speaker in 2010. She had been serving as \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-state-senator-reported-results-must-be-viewed-as-untrustworthy\/\" title=\"Georgia State Senator: \u201cReported Results Must Be Viewed As Untrustworthy\u201d\">lieutenant governor<\/a> \u2062since 2018, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of dedication and service.<\/p>\n<p>Upon hearing the news, Gov. \u200bMurphy\u2063 expressed his grief, saying, &#8220;Tammy and I, and our children, are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and partner in government, [Oliver]. \u2063We ask\u2063 that you all keep\u200c the Oliver\u200b family and all those who loved her in your thoughts and prayers during \u2063this difficult time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Murphy\u200d had recently left the state for a vacation\u2064 in Italy, where he owns \u2064a villa. With Oliver \u200cunable to fulfill\u2063 her \u200cduties as acting governor, state Sen. Nicholas\u200c Scutari stepped in as prescribed by the New Jersey Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>The family has requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved Sheila Y. Oliver.
