However, the San Francisco Department of Building\u200c Inspection\u2062 launched \u2064an investigation into the unpermitted installation after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-seek-to-cut-woke-programs-out-of-pentagons-proposed-budget\/\" title=\"GOP Aims to Eliminate 'Woke' Programs from Pentagon Budget\">receiving numerous complaints<\/a> about the sign. The renovation of the headquarters \u200bbegan with the\u2063 removal of the old\u200c Twitter logo and lettering from the building&#8217;s exterior.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/giant-flashing-x-removed-from-hq-as-elon-musk-tangles-with-san-francisco-over-permits\/\" title=\"Elon Musk removes giant 'X' from HQ amid permit dispute with San Francisco.\">city \u2063officials halted<\/a> the renovation when they discovered that \u200dthe changes were being made without proper permits.\u200b They stated that\u200d approval was necessary to ensure\u2063 the changes were in\u2063 line \u2062with the building&#8217;s historic nature.<\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The \u2063city officials issued a notice of violation against X&#8217;s new signage, the illuminated X logo\u200d on the rooftop, citing safety concerns. Although the removal of the\u200b sign on Monday was also unpermitted, \u2062the city allowed it to be taken\u2062 down due to safety\u2063 reasons, with\u200b the proper permits to be obtained later.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over \u200bthe weekend, the Department of Building Inspection \u200dand \u200bCity Planning \u2064received 24 complaints about the unpermitted structure, including concerns about \u2063its structural safety and \u2063illumination. This morning, building inspectors observed the structure being dismantled. A building permit is required to remove the structure but, due to safety concerns, the permit can be secured after the structure is taken down,&#8221; explained department spokesman Patrick Hannan in an email to \u2062CNN.<\/p>\n<p>Hannan added, &#8220;The property owner will be assessed fees for the unpermitted installation of the illuminated structure.
