It\u2019s inexplicable when\u200b Republicans help them\u2064 do \u2062it.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, South Carolina Sen. Tim \u200cScott \u2014 a\u2063 contender for the 2024 GOP\u200b presidential nomination \u2014 \u200caccepted Democrats\u2019 \u200bphony premise\u2064 that there\u2019s\u2064 something wrong\u2064 with Florida\u2019s slavery \u200ccurriculum. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/4110794-kamala-harris-florida-pushing-propaganda-on-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vice President Kamala \u200dHarris<\/a> \u2062 and regime-approved\u2063 media\u200d had been fomenting the complete lie that the Sunshine State\u2019s new \u2063African American history \u200dcurriculum teaches students that slavery was beneficial\u2062 to black Americans.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As The Federalist\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/28\/question-for-leftists-why-do-you-want-to-rob-black-slaves-of-their-rich-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eddie Scarry<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/kamala-harris-is-brazenly-lying-about-floridas-slavery-curriculum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">others<\/a> \u200bhave pointed out, these claims \u200care total nonsense. The standards are clear \u2062in teaching \u2064that, despite their enslavement, blacks developed skills that \u201cin\u200b some\u200d instances, \u2062could be \u200dapplied for their personal benefit\u201d \u2014\u2062 <em>not<\/em> that \u200bslavery was beneficial to them. It\u2019s worth mentioning \u200dthat\u2062 the College Board\u2019s African \u2064American studies course<a href=\"https:\/\/flvoicenews.com\/ap-african-american-history-contains-same-slavery-teachings-as-new-florida-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> includes<\/a> similar \u2062teachings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But these facts didn\u2019t \u200dstop\u200b Republicans\u2063 like Scott from \u200cadvancing Harris\u2019 false narrative about the\u200b subject.\u2062 When asked about it late\u2064 last\u2062 week, Scott embraced the lie\u200d and used it to attack fellow 2024 primary contender Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]here is no silver \u2064lining in freedom \u2014 in slavery. The truth is that anything you can\u2063 learn, any benefits that \u200cpeople suggest you had\u2064 during \u2064slavery, you\u2064 would have \u200bhad as a free \u2064person,\u201d Scott <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/bonchie\/2023\/07\/28\/tim-scott-joins-the-chorus-of-attacking-floridas-black-history-curriculum-n783568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. \u200b\u201c[Slavery] was \u2063just\u2063 devastating. So, I would \u2062hope\u2062 that every person in\u2064 our country, and certainly running for president would appreciate\u2063 that. Listen, people have bad days, sometimes they regret\u2063 what they say, and we should ask them\u200d again to \u2063clarify their positions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But\u200b Scott\u2063 was hardly the\u200d only Republican to promulgate Harris and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/3-times-biden-and-trump-did-the-same-thing-and-the-media-reaction-was-totally-different\/\" title=\"3 Times Biden And Trump Did The Same Thing\u2026 And The Media Reaction Was Totally Different\">legacy media\u2019<\/a>s false \u200dnarrative. Republican Reps. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepDonaldsPress\/status\/1684199331505504256?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Byron \u2063Donalds<\/a> of Florida, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JohnJamesMI\/status\/1685020441692225536?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John \u2064James<\/a> of Michigan, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WesleyHuntTX\/status\/1685006863056715776?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wesley \u200cHunt<\/a> of \u200dTexas were among those to\u200b help advance leftist lies \u200cabout the curriculum.<\/p>\n<h3>Pushing Leftist Narratives Is\u2064 a Losing Strategy<\/h3>\n<p>DeSantis has \u200dbeen the \u2063most successful\u200d Republican in the nation\u2064 by far \u200cwhen \u200dit comes to combatting the left\u2019s\u200b Marxist takeover of\u200d American public schools. Whether by <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/22\/new-florida-law-bans-critical-race-theory-in-schools-workplaces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">banning critical \u2062race theory<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/23\/florida-republicans-are-crafting-a-legislative-blueprint-other-red-states-should-follow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transgender\u2062 madness<\/a> \u2062 or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wuft.org\/news\/2021\/07\/15\/florida-education-board-approves-new-school-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">installing<\/a> proper\u2063 civics standards, DeSantis finally began eradicating\u200b the leftist indoctrination \u200binfesting Florida\u2019s education system.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than \u2062celebrate these achievements and look for ways to advance\u200d similar policies throughout \u200bthe nation, Scott and \u2063Co. are playing the\u2062 left\u2019s game by\u200b advancing Democrats\u2019 spin about Florida\u2019s\u2064 curriculum. And it\u2019s fairly obvious why.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that\u2064 Scott \u2014 who has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/2018\/11\/29\/tim-scott-tanks-trumps-judicial-appointee-after-this-report-surfaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history<\/a> of \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/06\/09\/politics\/tim-scott-legislation-draft\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">capitulating<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/10\/republicans-have-no-idea-what-time-it-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leftist narratives<\/a> \u2014 views this Democrat-manufactured\u200d \u201ccontroversy\u201d as an opportunity to\u2064 bash DeSantis\u200c to \u2064improve\u2064 his own prospects of securing\u200c the 2024 GOP nomination. The same could\u2063 also be said \u2064of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/byron-donalds-endorses-trump-president-strength-resolve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donalds<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/djt.nucleusemail.com\/amplify\/v\/SavFtbF7td?hids=2RZtjP2&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=ncl_amplify&#038;utm_campaign=230711-president_donald_j_trump_announces_his_michigan_federal_leadership_team&#038;utm_content=ncl-Q3Zjfun7AA&#038;_nlid=Q3Zjfun7AA&#038;_nhids=2RZtjP2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WesleyHuntTX\/status\/1592705606984474624?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hunt\u2019s<\/a> unfair\u200d criticisms given \u200cthat\u200d all of them have\u200c backed former\u200d President Donald Trump for the nomination. And \u200cwhile it\u2019s\u200b one thing to attack an opposing candidate \u200cin a \u2064primary, \u200cit\u2019s quite another to advance Democrat \u200clies to do it.<\/p>\n<p>Scott and the Republican congressmen\u2019s erroneous hot takes don\u2019t just provide \u2062fodder for\u2063 Democrats and their\u2064 legacy media allies to continue their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/07\/28\/election-2024-scott-desantis-slavery-school-curriculum\/0a47ea18-2d43-11ee-a948-a5b8a9b62d84_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dishonest coverage<\/a> of Florida\u2019s new curriculum; they also help stymie the conservative\u200b agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans should be on offense, debunking Harris and Democrats\u2019 fake \u2062claims\u200d while explaining why an accurate accounting \u2062of American history should be taught in every state across the country, not\u2062 just \u200bFlorida. Instead, Scott and Co.\u2019s comments now allow legacy media\u200d to shift the conversation to what these lawmakers said, \u2063thereby forcing any Republican behind the microphone to respond to their\u2062 colleagues\u2019 opinions\u2064 instead of the subject at hand. It takes \u200cwhat should\u2019ve been an easy Republican\u200d victory and morphed it into an opportunity for the left\u200b to advance <em>their<\/em> narrative \u2062instead.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans \u2064should be \u2064laser-focused on implementing and maintaining\u200b effective, conservative policy. Letting primary politics get \u2064in the way of this mission plays right into the left\u2019s\u2064 hands \u200band distracts the\u2063 right from advancing key objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Conservatives will have a \u200bsay in who the 2024 \u200cnominee should be when their state\u2019s primary\u200c election \u2064comes to \u200ctown next\u2063 year. Until then, elected Republicans should focus on winning the political cold war\u2062 at hand.
