Just days later, Joe Biden delivered a speech denouncing the \u2064<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hollywood-celebrities-who-backed-jussie-smollett-silent-after-guilty-verdict\/\" title=\"Hollywood Celebrities Who Backed Jussie Smollett Silent After Guilty Verdict\">corrupt prosecutor<\/a> and threatened to withhold aid\u200d from \u200cUkraine unless he was removed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>The Dubai Meeting<\/h3>\n<p>Archer, \u200cHunter \u200cBiden&#8217;s former business associate and fellow Burisma board member, revealed during his\u200d testimony \u2062that on December 4, 2015, a meeting took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in \u200dDubai. Present at the meeting were Hunter Biden, Archer, and two Burisma executives, Mykola Zlocevsky and Vadym Pozharskyi. They were discussing the company&#8217;s challenges when Zlocevsky \u200dinformed Hunter Biden that Burisma needed assistance from the United States government to handle the pressure from Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin. Archer \u200cdid not\u200c confirm whether the &#8220;D.C.&#8221; mentioned \u2064in the conversation referred to then-Vice President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<h3>Joe Biden&#8217;s Visit to Ukraine<\/h3>\n<p>Three days after the Dubai meeting, on December\u2062 7, 2015, Joe Biden traveled to Ukraine. This visit was initially announced by\u2063 the White House before the\u2062 Dubai meeting took place.\u2063 Originally planning to announce an additional $1 billion in loan guarantees to aid\u2064 Ukraine&#8217;s economy, Biden\u2064 changed his plans en\u2063 route to\u200d Kyiv. Instead,\u200d he delivered a speech on December 8, 2015, criticizing the corrupt practices of General Prosecutor Shokin.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;But I can tell you, you cannot name me a\u200c single democracy in\u2064 the world where the cancer of corruption is \u2064prevalent,&#8221; Joe Biden declared to Ukraine&#8217;s \u2062Verkhovna Rada. &#8220;You cannot name me one. The Office\u200b of the General Prosecutor desperately\u2063 needs\u2063 reform.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During this December 2015 trip, Joe Biden also issued a threat to the Ukrainian government.\u2064 He warned that the United States \u200dwould withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees unless Ukraine fired Shokin, who was \u2063widely \u200ccriticized in the West for his inadequate efforts\u200d to combat corruption. The U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, and other allies shared\u2062 the\u2062 same objective. \u200bAs a result,\u2064 Shokin was removed from office in \u2062March 2016.<\/p>\n<h3>Hunter Biden&#8217;s Involvement<\/h3>\n<p>Devon Archer&#8217;s testimony also shed light on Hunter Biden&#8217;s \u200cattempt to take credit for his father&#8217;s actions. According to Archer, Hunter claimed \u200bresponsibility\u200c for his father&#8217;s April\u200b 22, 2014, visit to \u200dUkraine. However, Hunter had no involvement \u2063in the visit, \u2063as confirmed by Rep. Dan Goldman. This behavior\u2064 was part of a pattern where Hunter \u2064sought to create the illusion of access to his father and take credit for actions he \u200dhad no part in.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that \u200cthe White House \u200chas \u2063not responded to requests for comment\u200d on these revelations. Matthew L. Schwartz,\u2063 managing partner of Boies \u2064Schiller Flexner LLP and counsel to Archer, stated that Archer provided honest and complete answers during his voluntary interview\u2063 with the House Oversight Committee.
