(Photo by Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>OAN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/tag\/brooke-mallory\">Brooke\u200c Mallory<\/a><br \/>5:07 PM \u2013 Monday, July 31, 2023<\/h2>\n<p>Devon Archer, Hunter Biden\u2019s former business partner, told Congress in an explosive, evidence-packed committee hearing that the\u200c \u201cBiden brand\u201d\u200d saved Ukrainian firm Burisma from bankruptcy and \u2064that Joe Biden joined them via phone call on at least 20 different \u200coccasions when his son was speaking with foreign colleagues.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Republicans say Archer\u2019s testimony\u2064 adds to the\u2062 accumulating evidence that then-Vice\u200c President Joe Biden was involved in Hunter\u2019s international\u200d business dealings,\u200d which netted millions of dollars from countries\u2063 such as China and\u200c Romania.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats had tried to \u200dclaim previously that the phone calls were not \u2064work-related whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>Representative Dan Goldman \u200d(D-N.Y.) said\u200c that Archer informed the House\u200d Oversight Committee that Joe Biden had\u2063 joined in on conversations via speakerphone numerous times\u2064 when his\u200b son was discussing business matters with international \u200dassociates. However, Goldman still tried \u2064to argue that the father-son \u2063team was discussing \u201cniceties,\u201d like the weather.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Representative\u200c Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) then stated that, according to Archer, Hunter was on the board of the Ukrainian energy business\u2064 due to his family\u2019s \u201cbrand,\u201d to which then-VP Joe Biden provided \u201cvalue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Archer reported that Hunter\u200d referred to his father, Joe,\u2064 as \u201cmy\u2063 guy,\u201d according \u2064to \u200ban\u200b Oversight Republicans statement.<\/p>\n<p>Goldman, the lead\u2063 counsel on Trump\u2019s first impeachment and the only Democrat in the room during the testimony, doubled down and told reporters \u2062that Archer \u201cindicated that Hunter\u2064 spoke to his\u2062 father\u200b every day, and approximately 20 times over the \u2062course of a 10-year relationship, Hunter may have put his father on \u2064the phone with any number of different people, and they never once spoke about any\u2062 business dealings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to distract from the witness \u200btestimony, Goldman continued to deflect and argue in support of the Biden family.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cRemember, this is when \u200cBeau got ill,\u201d Goldman said, insinuating that Hunter \u200cand Joe \u200bonly \u2063spoke on the phone frequently since it was right before Beau Biden\u2019s death in 2015.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Beau was Biden\u2019s eldest son who died of\u200c a glioblastoma brain tumor on May 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans had a different take on Archer\u2019s story.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cBurisma would have gone out of \u200bbusiness sooner \u2062if the\u2064 Biden brand had not been \u2063invoked,\u201d according\u2063 to Archer\u2019s testimony.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, Biggs further stated that Archer informed the committee that he \u200bhad no \u200cknowledge of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-bidens-ex-biz-partner-admits-joe-was-on-more-than-20-business-calls-with-son-using-influence\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden's former business partner confesses that Joe Biden participated in over 20 business calls with his son, leveraging his influence.\">specific bribery allegations mentioned<\/a> \u200bin the FBI\u2019s\u200c FD-1023 dossier.<\/p>\n<p>According \u200cto\u200d the internal \u200cmemo, which\u2063 recounted a conversation with \u2064a \u2063secret source who met with Burisma CFO Vadim Pojarski in 2015,\u2064 Pojarski said Joe and Hunter \u200dwere given $5 million each when \u2064Joe was vice president in exchange for favorable policy outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Archer claimed in his testimony that in 2015, Pozharskyi and CEO \u2064Nikola Zlochevsky \u200bexerted\u200b \u201ccontinuous pressure\u201d on Hunter to remove prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was probing Burisma at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Then-Vice President\u200b Joe Biden reportedly threatened to withhold \u2063$1 billion in aid to Ukraine if Shokin was not sacked for corruption in March\u2064 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, in an email to Hunter in 2017, his uncle Jim and other business associates spoke about a transaction with Chinese energy giant CEFC.\u2062 Business partner James Gilliar mentioned the \u201cbig guy\u201d\u2063 obtaining a 10% stake \u2063in the lucrative contract.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Bobulinski, a former associate of the first\u200b son and a U.S. Navy veteran, openly asserted in October 2020 that \u200b\u201cbig guy\u201d was a \u200dreference to current President\u200b Biden.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200b an interview with press journalists, Oversight Committee member Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) \u2063(R-Ga.) \u2064said Archer testified\u200b that\u2063 \u201cthe Bidens were in the actual business of influence peddling.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really incriminating,\u201d \u200cshe asserted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe have Devon Archer coming out \u2064and telling the truth that Hunter Biden and Joe\u2064 Biden spoke over 20 times about his business deals, not about the weather, not about what was for lunch, about his business deals,\u201d MTG continued.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Goldman\u00a0claimed\u2064 that\u00a0Archer\u2019s\u00a0phone\u00a0call\u00a0testimony was misinformed and deceiving.<\/p>\n<p>He \u2064went on to \u200bexplain that sometimes \u2062Hunter would be at dinner with business associates and receive a call from his father, who didn\u2019t know who else was at the table, and would then put \u2064it on speaker phone.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThere was no indication that he had any idea who was \u200cat dinner with them. It was just to say, \u2018Hello, I\u2019m at dinner,\u2019 and there was nothing\u200d related to his business \u2064dealings.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jim Jordan, \u200cthe\u200d chairman of \u200dthe Judiciary Committee and an Oversight Committee member who \u2063was present for the deposition, told\u200d reporters that Archer had presented the \u2062committee with fresh material and\u200b that the discussion had \u2063been \u200b\u201cvery productive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greene,\u200c who reportedly speaks often with\u2062 Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), believes \u2063Archer\u2019s \u200btestimony \u2062might be what \u201cmoves the needle\u201d on the prospective Biden impeachment probe.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe have to have 218 Republicans to vote for it,\u201d Greene said. \u201cAnd there\u2019s been some that just aren\u2019t \u200dthere yet, but in\u200d my opinion, the information that\u2019s coming out today could\u200b really push many of them to \u2063get \u2064to\u200b \u2018yes.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Archer had served on\u200d Burisma\u2019s\u200c board with Hunter, and he was paid $50,000 a month while in his position.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2022,\u2062 Archer was sentenced to one year and one\u200c day\u200b in jail for allegedly cheating a Native American tribe and \u2064financial advising clients out of tens of millions of dollars in connection with the issuing of $60 million in bonds.<\/p>\n<p>The Hunter\u200b witness arrived to talk with investigators as\u2064 they found a laundry list of foreign influence crimes Hunter may face after his plea agreement \u2063fell \u2062through last week.<\/p>\n<p>Archer\u2019s\u200d testimony also follows a back-and-forth with\u200c the Department \u200cof Justice, \u200bwhich claimed it was not attempting to\u2064 have Archer imprisoned \u2063prior to \u2064his deposition for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-we-know-about-former-hunter-biden-business-partner-devon-archer\/\" title=\"What we know about Devon Archer, former business partner of Hunter Biden.\">unrelated fraud conviction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On\u2062 July 29<sup>th<\/sup>, \u200bthe \u2064DOJ\u200d wrote to a New York judge, requesting that Archer\u2019s sentence be accelerated.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans say that the DOJ\u2019s decision to accelerate sentencing was\u2064 intended \u200bto \u201cintimidate\u201d Archer, whom they see as a crucial figure to supply important evidence \u2063to their continuing\u200b investigation into whether\u2064 Joe Biden was engaged in his son\u2019s international business ventures.<\/p>\n<p>In a new \u200cSunday \u2064filing, the DOJ appears to have now\u200b withdrawn its request, informing District Judge Abrams that they do not \u2062want Archer imprisoned before \u200dhe\u2062 testifies before Congress on\u200b Monday about Biden\u2019s financial schemes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cTo be clear, the Government \u2063does not request (and has never requested) that\u200c the defendant [Archer] \u2064 surrender before \u2063his \u200dCongressional testimony,\u201d the new letter said, gaslighting those who remember the department\u2019s prior request.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The department now proposes that any surrender date, if ordered by\u2063 the Court, take place after the defendant\u2019s Congressional \u2063testimony is concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Archer, 48, on June 12<sup>th<\/sup> in \u2063order to investigate Hunter\u2019s companies and whether \u2064he \u200bor \u200bother \u2062members of the Biden family unlawfully traded on their ties.<\/p>\n<p>The rationale for Archer\u2019s decision to testify\u200b on Monday is unknown. He had reportedly already canceled at least three times on \u2063the committee in \u200drecent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman Comer\u2063 told Fox News\u2019 Larry Kudlow \u2063that Archer is going before his committee \u2064now because he \u201cdoesn\u2019t \u200bhave a whole lot of alternatives\u201d after being subpoenaed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cAt\u200c the end of \u200dthe day, I think that Archer wants to\u200c do the right thing,\u201d Comer said. \u201cI think he wants to set\u2062 the\u2064 record\u200b straight, and he is going to have an\u2064 opportunity to do\u2063 that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cDevon Archer believes strongly in the rule of law and the democratic \u200bsystem,\u200b and is prepared to answer the Committee\u2019s questions just as he has already answered similar questions from a \u2064federal grand jury, the Department of Justice, and several other government agencies \u2063in \u200btheir investigations concerning the\u200b Biden family,\u201d said attorney \u2062Matthew Schwartz of Boies Schiller Flexner.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The White House has consistently \u2064maintained that the current president was never\u200c \u201cin business\u201d with Hunter, however, the GOP \u200dhas increased its inquiry with whistleblower testimony and a flood \u2063of other evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Archer and Hunter, \u2063both 48, are also both Yale graduates who have reportedly been friends for decades. Devon, \u2064according to Hunter, is\u200c his \u201cbest friend in\u200b business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u2063 company Rosemont Seneca\u200b Partners was founded in 2009 by the two men and Christopher Heinz, \u2063the son-in-law\u200b of former Senator John Kerry, who is also\u2064 a Yale alumni,\u200d kicking off\u200d an era of worldwide commercial dealings and a jet-setting lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Hunter\u2019s lack \u2064of competence in the industry, Archer\u200c and Hunter Biden both\u200b received lucrative seats on the board \u200cof Ukrainian \u200cenergy\u2064 giant Burisma.<\/p>\n<p>According to documents obtained from Hunter\u2019s notorious laptop,\u2063 the business\u200c earned a whopping\u2063 $11 million from\u200d the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed!
