The\u2062 red flag\u200b law allows authorities \u2062to petition the courts to temporarily confiscate firearms from individuals deemed to be a risk to themselves or others.<\/p>\n<p>The comprehensive package of public safety bills passed by the legislature\u200c also introduces tighter restrictions on machine gun ownership and significant \u200bchanges to the purchase and transfer \u200bof firearms.<\/p>\n<h3>Key\u2062 Changes in the Gun Laws<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Friends and family members \u2064are \u2063no longer allowed to lend firearms for hunting trips. However, an exception is made for borrowing within hunting hours \u200dand only if both parties are together.<\/li>\n<li>Private gun transfers now \u200drequire both the owner and recipient to fill out a record of transfer, including personal information. Authorities have 30 days to process the transfer, compared to the previous seven-day timeframe.<\/li>\n<li>Applications for gun transfers can be denied by a \u2063sheriff or chief of police, but the applicant must receive written notification explaining the\u200b reason for\u2063 the denial, including the source of the information.\u2062 The applicant has the option to appeal the decision within 20 days, but they will be responsible for their own legal and court fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rob Doar, senior vice \u200bpresident\u200c of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus, expressed concerns about the impact of these laws on \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/utah-axes-gun-permit-requirement\/\" title=\"Utah Axes Gun-Permit Requirement\u00a0\">law-abiding gun owners<\/a>.
