Jim Jordan \u2064(@Jim_Jordan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jim_Jordan\/status\/1684957660515328001?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July\u200d 28, 2023<\/a>\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<h3>President Biden&#8217;s Controversial Statement<\/h3>\n<p>In July 2021, President Joe Biden made headlines by claiming that \u2062Facebook and other Big Tech platforms were &#8220;killing people&#8221; by \u200bnot censoring \u200bvaccine-hesitant posts.<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal was the first to report on the second batch of \u201cFacebook Files,\u201d \u200cwhich can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/facebook-bowed-to-white-house-pressure-removed-covid-posts-2df436b7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Internal records reveal that Facebook employees initially disagreed with \u2062the \u2062president&#8217;s accusations, \u200cfinding the \u2063administration&#8217;s definition of misinformation &#8220;completely unclear.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>An employee, whose name\u2064 is redacted in the public \u200bfiles, wrote, &#8220;It also just seems like when the vaccination campaign \u200cisn&#8217;t going as hoped,\u200d it&#8217;s \u2062convenient\u200b for them to blame us.&#8221;\u200b Another \u2063unnamed person \u2062in the email thread called the issue &#8220;frustrating&#8221; and stated, \u200d&#8221;This seems like a\u2062 political battle that&#8217;s \u200cnot fully grounded in facts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, the White House \u2064pressure campaign eventually \u2063convinced senior leadership at Facebook to reassess their Covid-19 censorship program. High-level discussions involving the company&#8217;s president of \u2063global \u2064affairs and then-Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg \u2062took place.<\/p>\n<p>Records indicate that the administration \u2064even directed Facebook to censor \u2064&#8221;humorous or satirical content that suggests the vaccine isn&#8217;t safe.&#8221; The White House also \u2064wanted\u200c negative information about \u2064vaccine\u2064 side effects \u200cto be\u200d suppressed, regardless of its truthfulness.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. \u200bJordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the \u2063Federal Government, \u200breleased <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jim_Jordan\/status\/1684595375875760128?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">part one<\/a> of the \u201cFacebook\u200c Files\u201d on Thursday.
