Rand Paul of Kentucky has made a bold \u2063claim, asserting that the truth of\u2063 Dr. Anthony Fauci&#8217;s \u2063lies can be found in Fauci&#8217;s own emails.<\/p>\n<p>Paul, who has \u200dengaged in frequent clashes with Fauci, \u2063has taken \u200cthe extraordinary step of sending a criminal\u2063 referral to Attorney General Merrick Garland, accusing Fauci of lying\u2064 to Congress. It stated, &#8220;The suspicion was heightened by the fact that scientists in \u200cWuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments \u200bto determine the molecular mechanisms associated\u200d with bat\u200c viruses adapting to human infection, and the \u200doutbreak originated in Wuhan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a fiery\u2064 hearing\u2062 in July 2021,\u200c Paul accused Fauci of lying to Congress,\u2064 claiming that the \u2062research conducted\u2062 in\u200c the Wuhan lab\u2062 constituted\u200d gain-of-function research. Fauci vehemently denied the accusation, leading to a \u2062heated exchange.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci&#8217;s response \u2064was defiant. &#8220;Senator \u200bPaul,\u2064 I have never lied before the Congress, and I do not retract that statement. \u2026 You\u2064 do\u200b not know what you are talking about,\u200c quite frankly, and I want to say \u2064that \u2062officially. You do not know what you are talking\u2063 about,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Paul\u200c believes that the focus on\u2064 the \u200cWuhan lab\u200b was not\u200d driven by\u200c scientific \u2062inquiry but\u2063 rather\u200d by financial interests. He claims that millions of dollars were exchanged to downplay the lab&#8217;s\u2063 involvement in the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>According to Paul, the evidence of a cover-up \u200bis overwhelming.\u200d He stated, &#8220;There\u2063 has probably \u2064never been \u200da cover-up in the\u200b history of all \u200cpolitics that was so completely documented that\u200c they were lying to us. Every one of their private emails has, &#8216;Oh, my goodness, it\u2062 looks like it comes from \u2063the lab.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Paul has referred Fauci to the \u200cAttorney \u200bGeneral for \u200bprosecution, but \u200bhe remains \u2062skeptical of the current \u200cAttorney\u2063 General&#8217;s willingness \u2064to act.
