Wade<\/em> \u200d when compared to the average number of abortions performed in \u2062the months before the decision. Despite these\u200b many lives saved, pro-abortion activists say we need legalized abortion to save the\u200c lives of women.<\/p>\n<p>Is\u200d abortion <em>needed<\/em> to save the lives\u2063 of women? The data \u200dsays no.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-332235302\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b5ed4e195e474f570cabcb1195ef5fb3 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b5ed4e195e474f570cabcb1195ef5fb3\"><\/div>\n<p>Even back in\u200c 2013, a\u200c <a href=\"https:\/\/bmcwomenshealth.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/1472-6874-13-29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study<\/a> to \u2063determine \u201cwhy women seek abortion in the US\u201d found that only 12 percent of women cited \u201chealth-related reasons\u201d \u200bfor their decision to abort. These \u201creasons,\u201d though, could be anything from back \u200cpain to mental health \u2063concerns \u2014 many times\u200c a far cry from \u201cmedically necessary.\u201d In fact, this study \u200dfound that the \u201cmost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/we-can-save-a-womans-life-without-ending-her-unborn-childs\/\" title=\"Save a woman's life while preserving her unborn child's.\">frequently \u200bmentioned theme\u201d mothers referenced<\/a> for ending the lives of \u200btheir unborn children\u2062 was related to finances.<\/p>\n<p>The reality is that women don\u2019t require \u2063abortion to \u200dsave their lives. As of January 2023, the Charlotte \u200bLozier Institute \u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/fact-sheet-reasons-for-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found that<\/a> \u200c only 0.2 percent \u200cof abortions occurred due to \u201crisk to the woman\u2019s life <em>or<\/em> a major bodily function\u201d (emphasis mine).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing could be further from the truth\u201d than \u200cthe idea that abortion is \u201cmedically necessary\u201d to save a woman\u2019s life, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ysl1tRnk-ig\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said Dr. Anthony Levatino<\/a> \u2014 an obstetrician-gynecologist and board member of the American Association of\u2064 Pro-Life\u2062 Obstetricians and \u2063Gynecologists (AAPLOG) \u2014 in an\u2063 interview with Live Action.<\/p>\n<p>Levatino, who worked \u200cat one of the top high-risk obstetrics hospitals\u200d in America for nine years, said he\u2019s \u201csaved hundreds of women from life-threatening \u2063pregnancies\u201d through early induction and C-sections, never once having to \u200bdeliberately kill a\u200d child in the process.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0809e6e88e0c3efc5ea55cb759f866f0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0809e6e88e0c3efc5ea55cb759f866f0\"><\/div>\n<p>Still, \u2063pro-abortion activists and their\u2062 media allies flaunt stories of medical emergencies as grounds \u200dfor abortion \u2063legalization while disregarding\u2063 that the vast majority of abortions occur on physically healthy babies and \u200dmothers. Instead of working to find viable solutions for the small percentage of women facing emergency situations, radicals would rather keep abortion legal and allow hundreds of \u2064thousands of healthy babies to be killed annually.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2022\/07\/26\/1111280165\/because-of-texas-abortion-law-her-wanted-pregnancy-became-a-medical-nightmare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NPR story<\/a> stirred public emotion with the story of Elizabeth Weller, a Texas\u200b mother\u200d whose water broke at 18 weeks.\u200d In this case, \u2063there\u2063 <em>was<\/em> \u2062 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/see-it-mourners-head-to-buckingham-palace-after-queen-elizabeth-iis-death\/\" title=\"SEE IT: Mourners head to Buckingham Palace after Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s death\">major health concern<\/a> when she was told she\u200d could not abort her \u200bstill-living, but terminal, \u2064baby due to\u200b Texas heartbeat laws. The child, she was told,\u200d could give\u2064 her a dangerous infection \u2014 but the unborn baby still held a \u201cstrong\u201d heartbeat.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, when Weller began to show more severe signs of medical distress, she was \u200cinduced and gave birth to a stillborn daughter. As\u2064 Weller recalls:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>They laid\u2062 down this beautiful baby girl\u200c in my arms. She was so tiny.\u2063 And she \u2063rested on my chest.\u200c \u2026 I looked at her little hands and I just cried. And I told her \u2018I\u2019m so sorry. I couldn\u2019t give you life.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Because delivery was \u200cinduced rather than the baby aborted, Weller actually got to see and \u2063hold \u200bher child.\u200d A terminal\u2063 diagnosis for an unborn \u2064child is always tragic and\u2062 traumatic,\u200c but would an abortion have\u200d made it less so?<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7ac9376780051f21e499c2f6ab4bf287 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7ac9376780051f21e499c2f6ab4bf287\"><\/div>\n<p>Additionally, even with the health concern, abortion was never Weller\u2019s only option and was not\u2064 necessary <em>in the \u2064first \u2063place<\/em>. Plenty of OB-GYNs have attested it never is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA physician can \u2064always separate the mother and the \u200dbaby in a way that gives them both the best chance possible,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/op-eds\/abortion-is-never-medically-necessary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> Lila Rose\u200b of Live Action and \u200bDr.\u2062 Donna Harrison,\u200b OB-GYN and executive director of the AAPLOG.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dublindeclaration.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dublin Declaration<\/a>, more than 1,000 doctors and maternal health care experts signed \u200dthis statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>As\u2063 experienced practitioners and researchers in obstetrics\u2063 and\u200b gynaecology, we affirm that direct abortion \u2014 the \u2063purposeful destruction of the\u200d unborn child \u2014 is\u2064 not medically necessary \u200cto save \u200dthe life of a woman.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There are other ways to handle true emergencies, even in later-term stages of pregnancies when they often crop up\u2062 \u2014 ways that don\u2019t require \u2062torturous poisoning\u200b or dismemberment of \u200can unborn child.<\/p>\n<p>In\u200b the \u2063case of Weller, it was possible to address \u2063her medical crisis <em>and<\/em> save \u2062her from harm without conducting an \u200dabortion.\u2062 As Levatino described, C-sections and early induction are effective\u2062 options for treatment. Although the baby did not live,\u200c Weller\u2019s early induction avoided the willful taking of human life.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the fact\u2063 that Weller was forced \u200cto wait <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2022\/07\/26\/1111280165\/because-of-texas-abortion-law-her-wanted-pregnancy-became-a-medical-nightmare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indefinitely<\/a> while she was \u2064in pain and at risk, is troubling. State \u200blawmakers and\u2062 health care boards must clarify what constitutes the \u2063need for early induction so doctors can address situations like Weller\u2019s quickly and consistently.<\/p>\n<p>Because <em>Roe v.\u200c Wade<\/em> was \u2063overturned only a year ago, there will,\u2064 unfortunately, be a medical learning\u200d curve. But that does not mean we scrap the plan to reinstate legal abortions for any \u200breason at any time.<\/p>\n<p>No matter what they \u200csay, pro-aborts will <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/20\/without-roe-the-pro-abortion-crowd-cant-avoid-defending-the-indefensible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">not stop<\/a> at allowing abortion strictly in the case of emergencies \u2014 only zero restrictions will\u2062 do for these folks.<\/p>\n<p>But abortion is always wrong, for any reason, at\u2063 any\u2062 time.<\/p>\n<p>More than\u2062 32,000\u2064 babies \u200care alive today because <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> was\u200c overturned, and OB-GYNs like Levatino and Harrison \u2064who signed the Dublin Declaration have determined, in their years of experience, that abortion is never necessary to save a woman\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>The argument\u2064 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/citizens-seek-to-recall-council-members-who-voted-against-abortion-ban-ordinance\/\" title=\"Citizens Seek to Recall Council Members Who Voted Against Abortion Ban Ordinance\">making abortion illegal<\/a> is much stronger than\u2062 its counterpart.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a75f51d2810a46070dd13f9eb84750cd fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a75f51d2810a46070dd13f9eb84750cd\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A report shows 32,000 fewer abortions occurred in the six months after Roe v.
