Brown<\/p>\n<p>(Reuters) \u2013 A giant, glowing X \u2064marks the San Francisco spot where Elon \u2063Musk says he plans\u200d to \u200dkeep his company, \u2063the messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter. But\u200b city officials and some residents are unhappy with the display.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px;  text-align: center;\">  \t<script>  \t\tgoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });  \t<\/script>  <\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-slot__ad-label\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the company erected an \u201cX\u201d logo on the roof \u200cof its Market Street headquarters, to the chagrin of neighbors who complained about intrusive lights, and San Francisco\u2019s Department\u2064 of Building Inspection which said it is investigating the structure.<\/p>\n<p>The move followed a post from Musk, \u200dthe enigmatic billionaire who acquired the company in October for $44 billion, announcing the newly named firm would remain in San Francisco despite what he termed\u2063 the city\u2019s recent \u201cdoom spiral, with one company after another left or leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk, who also is CEO of electric car maker Tesla, moved that company\u2019s headquarters from California to Texas in 2021. Keeping X in San Francisco could be a good sign for a city that has struggled to bounce back from tourism and business losses sustained during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Its\u2064 downtown region is struggling with job cuts in the tech sector, the departure of major retailers, and reduced\u200d tourism. Traffic has fallen as more people work from home, while high-profile crime and\u200d homelessness have tarnished the city\u2019s image.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeautiful San Francisco, though others forsake you, \u2063we\u200c will always be your friend,\u201d Musk wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Yet not all San Franciscans are keen for Musk\u2019s \u200cfriendship. Locals over the weekend recorded video of the giant X\u2062 glowing, pulsing and strobing, with some criticizing its intrusive lights.<\/p>\n<p>X user @itsmefrenchy123 said they would be \u201cLIVID\u201d over the bright logo, imagining \u2062it \u201cright across from your bedroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just astounded at the flagrant lack of consideration for \u2064anyone ever,\u201d wrote X user @DollyMarlowe.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco\u2019s Department of Building Inspection, meanwhile, opened an investigation into the structure, saying it might be in \u2064violation of permitting rules. <\/p>\n<p>A\u200c BID inspector said in a written report \u200cthat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/musk-draws-heat-from-san-francisco-over-giant-x-logo\/\" title=\"Musk faces backlash in San Francisco for massive X logo.\">company representatives denied roof access<\/a>, twice, to \u2062BID officials seeking \u2063to inspect the logo.
