Newsom lifts Calif. lockdown orders amid mounting backlash\">recent interview<\/a> on CBS News\u2019s \u201cFace The Nation,\u201d former \u2064South Carolina Republican Governor Nikki Haley expressed her belief\u200d that politicians should undergo \u2062mental competency\u2062 tests once\u200d they reach the age\u200d of 75. Haley, who is currently running for the GOP presidential nomination, emphasized the importance of ensuring that those in power are fit to serve the public.<\/p>\n<p>Haley argued, \u201cWe need to\u200d have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nikki-haley-holds-first-campaign-event\/\" title=\"Nikki Haley Holds First Campaign Event\">mental competency tests<\/a> \u2063for anyone over the age of 75. \u2062And I don\u2019t say that to be disrespectful. \u200cI don\u2019t care if you do it\u2064 for 50 and older. What\u200d I\u2019m saying\u2063 is, these are people in D.C. \u200cthat are\u2064 making decisions on our\u2063 national\u2063 security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She further \u2064highlighted the potential consequences of having leaders who\u2062 may\u200b not be at their best mentally, stating, \u201cThey\u2019re deciding the future of our kids\u2019 economy. We need to know they\u2019re at the top of their game.\u2062 When you go and\u2063 look at Biden and you- and you\u2063 ask \u200bhim what country he was in the week before,\u2062 and\u200c he can\u2019t \u200csay it.\u200d When you\u2063 go and ask \u2063him how many grandchildren he has and he doesn\u2019t know. When\u2062 you go and see him falling asleep\u200b with leaders. That\u2019s concerning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haley believes that it is time for a new generation of leaders to step forward, both in the Republican Party and across the board. She acknowledged the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nikki-haley-pushes-mental-competency-tests-for-politicians-older-than-75\/\" title=\"Nikki Haley advocates for 'mental competency tests' for politicians over 75.\">recent electoral challenges faced<\/a> by Republicans and stressed the need for a fresh approach. \u201cRepublicans\u2064 have lost the last seven out of eight popular votes \u200dfor president,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s nothing to be proud of. We should want to win the \u200dmajority of Americans. We\u2019ve got \u200cto start going with a new generation so that we can do \u2064that.\u2063 We have to leave all of\u200d these older diplomats and Democrats-\u2064 and Democrats and Republicans behind.
