RiVive is \u200da 3-mg naloxone\u200d hydrochloric nasal spray that rapidly reverses \u2063the effects \u2062of opioids, particularly when administered promptly after \u200dthe first signs of an overdose.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA Commissioner, Robert \u200cM. Califf, \u200cMD, stated that this approval \u200dis\u200c a significant step in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-what-each-of-bidens-42-executive-orders-will-actually-do\/\" title=\"Here\u2019s What Each Of Biden\u2019s 42 Executive Orders Will Actually Do\">protecting public health<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cEnsuring naloxone is widely available, especially as an approved \u200dOTC product, makes a critical \u200ctool available to help \u200dprotect public health,\u201d \u2064Califf said in a\u200d statement. \u201cThe agency has long prioritized\u2064 access to naloxone products, and we\u200c welcome\u2063 manufacturers of other\u200c naloxone products to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-approves-second-otc-drug-meant-to-combat-opioid-overdoses\/\" title=\"FDA Approves New OTC Drug to Fight Opioid Overdoses\">discuss potential \u200bnonprescription development programs<\/a> with the FDA.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The manufacturer of RiVive has announced that the drug \u200dwill \u2064be available for harm-reduction organizations and state governments across the \u2062country as\u2063 early as next year. Harm Reduction has committed to providing at \u2064least 200,000 doses \u2062of RiVive free\u200c of\u200c charge.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Hufford, the co-founder and CEO of the\u2063 manufacturer, expressed gratitude to\u2064 the FDA for the approval \u200cand emphasized the importance of broad distribution of the drug. \u200dHe also mentioned that additional funding from partners could help lower\u2064 the cost of RiVive and increase the amount given away for free.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful that FDA granted RiVive approval so we can now achieve what most thought\u2064 impossible and no other company has: broad delivery of a lower-cost nasal naloxone product without a prescription to save lives that could otherwise be lost to opioid overdose,\u201d \u2064Hufford said.\u200b \u201cIf we are able to have partners \u200bstep forward and\u2062 help fund our work.
