But I think it is\u2063 something\u200d we have all thought \u2062about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/07\/28\/alito-ethics-supreme-court-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Post<\/a>, Michael \u2062Mukasey, who served as attorney general under President George\u200c W. Bush, agreed with Alito in his assessment of the issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA law \u2063compelling the court to adopt such \u200ba code, or purporting to impose one legislatively, would violate the principle of \u2062separation of powers, and would also be unworkable inasmuch as there \u200bis no authority other than the\u200c justices themselves to apply such \u200ca code,\u201d he said to \u2064a\u2062 Senate\u200d committee.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Alito\u200d and Mukasey are \u200babsolutely \u2064right, and \u200bwhat they say is \u200bimportant for a number of reasons.<\/p>\n<h3>The Importance of Separation of Powers<\/h3>\n<p>First \u2063of all,\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/aoc-gets-lesson-constitution-mouthing-off-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Constitution<\/a> instituted the separation of powers so that\u2063 no one branch of government \u200dcould \u2062have\u200d too much power.
