This is where\u200c Trump\u2019s defamation claims fail.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump claimed that <strong>\u201cthe use of the phrase\u200d \u2018the Big Lie\u2019 constitutes defamation\u201d<\/strong> \u200b because it \u201ccreate[s] \u2063 a false and \u2064incendiary association between the Plaintiff and Hitler.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also argued that CNN using <strong>\u201cthe Big Lie\u201d\u2062 is defamatory<\/strong> because it \u201chas incited readers and viewers to hate, contempt, \u2063distrust,\u2064 ridicule,\u2062 and even fear\u201d \u200bTrump, which caused \u201cinjury \u200cto the Plaintiff, the\u2062 Plaintiff\u2019s reputation, and \u2062the Plaintiff\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-arizona-state-rep-issues-call-to-withhold-states-electoral-college-votes-to-joe-biden-due-to-significant-evidence-of-fraud\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Arizona State Rep Issues Call to Withhold State's Electoral College Votes to Joe Biden Due to Significant Evidence of Fraud\">political career<\/a>.\u201d Because of this, \u200b\u201cTrump claims that viewers \u200dand readers \u2018understood that Plaintiff would be Hitler-like in any future political role.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Singhal evaluated\u2064 five instances Trump argued the network defamed him, including written columns and on-air segments that ranged from comparing the former president&#8217;s rhetoric with Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels to linking his efforts at narrative \u2063shaping to those used in &#8220;authoritarian states.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, Singhal determined the critiques of Trump were &#8220;opinion, \u2063not actually false statements.&#8221; Despite\u200b harsh criticisms of \u2063news outlets and readers,\u200c Singhal wrote that\u200d CNN or any other organization operating with a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/high-school-football-coach-fired-for-privately-questioning-black-lives-matter-curricula\/\" title=\"High School Football Coach Fired For Privately Questioning Black Lives Matter Curricula\">political motivation<\/a> does not establish falsity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Acknowledging that CNN acted with\u2064 political enmity does not save this case; \u200bthe Complaint alleges no false statements of fact,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;Trump complains that CNN described his election challenges as &#8216;the Big Lie.&#8217; Trump argues that \u2062&#8217;the Big Lie&#8217; is a phrase\u2064 attributed to \u2062Joseph Goebbels and that CNN\u2019s\u200c use of the phrase wrongly links \u200bTrump with the Hitler regime in \u200bthe public eye.
