This decision comes as UNC Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz assures that the necessary measures are being \u200btaken to\u2064 fully comply.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m confident that we&#8217;re taking all the necessary steps \u2062to fully comply,&#8221;\u2064 UNC Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz said on Friday \u200dafter the Board of Trustees\u2064 at the University of North Carolina\u200b at Chapel Hill approved the update.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Eliminating Preferential Treatment\u2063 Based on Race<\/h3>\n<p>In a three-page resolution\u2062 approved by the board&#8217;s audit committee, it is explicitly stated that there will be no &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">preferential treatment<\/a>&#8221; given to any individual \u2063or group based on race, according to the News \u2062&#038; Observer of Raleigh.<\/p>\n<p>The conservative majority Supreme Court, with\u200c a vote of 6-3, rejected race-conscious \u200badmissions in colleges and \u2063universities back in June. Chief Justice John Roberts, in his \u200bopinion, highlighted \u200dthat UNC \u2063and\u2063 Harvard\u200b violated\u200b the equal protection\u200c clause.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/unc-chapel-hill-bars-use-of-race-and-sex-in-admissions\/\" title=\"UNC-Chapel Hill prohibits use of race and sex in admissions.\">programs lack sufficiently focused<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-affirmative-action-ruling\/\" title=\"SC affirms affirmative action ruling.\">measurable objectives warranting<\/a> \u2062the use of \u200brace,\u200b unavoidably employ \u200drace in a negative manner,\u200b involve \u2064racial stereotyping, \u200band \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/high-court-strikes-racial-preferences-from-college-admissions\/\" title=\"High Court bans racial preferences in college admissions.\">lack meaningful end points<\/a>,&#8221; the\u2064 opinion states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>UNC trustees have\u2064 been actively discussing how to\u2062 transition after last month&#8217;s \u2063ruling, which deemed the old admissions considerations \u200cas a \u2062violation of the \u206314th Amendment.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;What we&#8217;re trying\u2062 to do is be proactive with \u2062this and make sure that we&#8217;re \u200din compliance\u2064 and that we&#8217;re providing equal protection,&#8221; trustee Marty Kotis said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Commitment to Equal Opportunity<\/h3>\n<p>UNC recently \u2064made headlines by\u2064 announcing free \u200ctuition for in-state undergraduates whose families make \u200bunder\u2064 $80,000\u2064 per \u2062year.
