You could turn on your television and flip\u200d on \u200ca \u200d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/from-impeaching-incitement-to-canceling-conservatism\/\" title=\"From Impeaching Incitement to Canceling Conservatism\">cable news channel<\/a>. For the \u2064most part, nothing you\u2019d find would be particularly interesting, but at least they\u2019d make an attempt \u200dat presenting a diversity of thought. CNN had \u201cCrossfire\u201d and, for a short period of time, \u201cParker\/Spitzer.\u201d Fox News had \u201cHannity\u200b &#038; Colmes.\u201d For its part, MSNBC aired a program called \u201cThe Cycle,\u201d which had at least one token Republican at \u2064all times. The point of all these shows \u2062was to\u200b present two neatly\u2063 packaged opposing points of view, side-by-side, \u200cfor mass consumption. That was the business model.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere\u200d along the line, \u2063all those networks canceled those shows, and every show \u2062that resembled them. \u200bThey were replaced by productions that didn\u2019t even bother with the pretense of actual debate. And then, coincidentally enough, a short time later *you* weren\u2019t allowed \u2063to have an open debate, either. \u2064The\u2062 largest \u2064social \u200dmedia companies on the \u200dplanet, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, \u200bbegan the \u200cpractice of \u201ccontent \u2063moderation.\u201d If you had a heterodox opinion about mass shootings, or\u200c big pharma,\u200d or national elections,\u200d or gender, then\u200c you\u2019d simply vanish, as surely as those cable news \u2064shows did.<\/p>\n<p>As always, \u2064these major changes occurred without any kind \u2064of referendum or any analysis\u200c of what effects they\u2019d have on civic life or \u200dour \u201cdemocracy\u201d that you hear so much about. Even so, it\u2019s worth \u2064asking: What happens when \u2063the\u2062 largest power \u200bcenters in the country decide, seemingly on a whim, that debate is intolerable? What effect does this kind of thing have on \u200dday-to-day life in\u200b America?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to say, honestly. But as of now, at least one of the consequences is obvious, if unexpected. Hearings on Capitol Hill have \u200cbecome *a lot* more interesting. \u2064That\u2019s right. They\u2019re not just for C-SPAN addicts anymore. It\u2063 turns out that Congress, for all its many faults, still permits, on occasion, two sides of an issue to talk, in public, at length. \u2062And there is no better way to find out\u2062 the truth than that. The more people are allowed to advance an argument, followed by a rebuttal, the more that argument\u2019s strength\u2064 \u2014 or its weaknesses \u2014 becomes clear to everyone watching.<\/p>\n<h3>Transgender Debate: A Clash of Testimonies<\/h3>\n<p>That explains why trans activists,\u200d and the politicians who support them, are apoplectic about \u200byesterday\u2019s hearing at \u200bthe\u200b House Judiciary Committee. At the hearing, both sides of the \u200bso-called \u201ctransgender\u201d debate had the opportunity\u200d to discuss the issue. They had the chance to call \u200cthe best witnesses\u200d they\u200b could find, in the entire\u2062 country, in defense of their position. And yesterday, \u2062everyone on \u200cthe side of transgenderism \u200band child mutilation, as expected, was totally\u200d and completely humiliated.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/show\/the-matt-walsh-show\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH:\u2063 The Matt Walsh Show<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>We\u2019ll start at the \u2062beginning of the hearing. Mary Gay Scanlon, the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary \u2064Committee, came out with this opening statement, in which\u200d she talked about the\u200b importance \u200cof parental rights, above \u200dall. She argued that parents should be able to\u200d do whatever \u2063they want to their children, including sterilizing them, because parents always know\u200d best. Watch:<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Mary Scanlon went on like\u200b that for a few minutes.\u200c Her point is that it\u2019s wrong for the government to\u2062 deny parents the right to castrate their children, or cut off \u2062their breasts. After all, she says, no one cares\u200c more about children \u200bthan their parents. Therefore, whatever parents say, goes.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s \u2063not much of an argument, obviously. Rational people understand, intuitively, \u2064that parents don\u2019t have *absolute* control over the lives of their children. Parents can\u2019t consent\u200c to their kids\u2019 execution, for example. Parents can\u2019t have their \u2064kids\u2019 limbs chopped \u2062off because \u2062they\u2019re being disobedient. So why \u200ccan parents \u200dconsent to their castration? Parents have rights. It\u2019s also possible for parents \u2064to be abusive and neglectful. In those cases, we usually recognize that not only\u200d should we not\u2063 respect the parent\u2019s right to\u2062 treat the child this way, but that in fact the parent should lose all \u2063rights. That\u2019s because the only real absolute right of a parent is to see to their\u200d child\u2019s\u200b well-being. This is both a parent\u2019s sacred right \u200cand sacred responsibility. It\u2062 would \u2063be oppression for the government to prevent a parent from fulfilling it. But a parent who, by their own \u2062actions, \u200brejects this right and responsibility, and works to\u200b destroy their own child rather than preserve and advance his well-being, should be\u200d met with the harshest punishment. That\u2019s the way this is all supposed to \u2062work.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the hearing. At least one representative, California Republican Congressman Tom McClintock, was listening closely\u2062 to \u200bMary Scanlon\u2019s argument. So a\u200c little later\u200d on,\u2063 he called her out on it. McClintock pressed Scanlon to support the logical conclusion\u2062 of what she was saying.\u2063 Specifically, \u200dMcClintock wanted to know whether Scanlon opposed laws in leftist states like \u200cOregon and California, which allow minors to be mutilated without any parental supervision whatsoever. After all, Scanlon cares so much \u200dabout \u201cparental rights.\u201d She thinks parents know\u200b best.\u200c So why wouldn\u2019t she \u200dsponsor \u200clegislation to \u2063ban the practice of children\u2063 getting castrated without any parental involvement at all?<\/p>\n<p>The exchange is worth watching\u2064 in its entirety. Here it is:<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an\u200d amazing \u2063moment. \u200dThe National Review\u2019s Caroline Downey observed that, during this \u2063cross-examination, Scanlon\u2019s \u2062aides passed her a note, to help her \u200banswer\u200c McClintock\u2019s\u200b question. But it \u200cdidn\u2019t help, because her answer ultimately made no sense.<\/p>\n<p>It was effectively this: \u2062\u201cParents know best, and any medical decision involving children \u2063should involve the parents \u200b\u2014 at the\u2062 same time, kids should \u200bbe able to castrate themselves, without consulting their parents at all.\u201d Right.<\/p>\n<p>The whole hearing went on like this. The incoherence and the \u2063insanity of \u2064transgenderism were on full display. It\u2019s an ideology that survives no scrutiny whatsoever. The\u2064 moment you put transgenderism \u2064side-by-side with sanity, transgenderism collapses. And that\u2019s what kept happening, over and over, \u2064as \u200dthe hours went on.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at this testimony from \u206219-year-old Chloe Cole for\u2064 example. So-called \u201cdoctors\u201d gave Chloe puberty\u200d blockers and testosterone when she was 13-years-old. That\u2019s enough to sterilize her, and cause her early-onset osteoporosis. But that wasn\u2019t enough for these doctors. So when she\u2063 was 15, they cut her breasts off.\u2062 Any rational person recognizes this\u200d barbarism for what it is. Here\u2019s Chloe explaining what happened to her:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It\u2019s Chloe Cole\u2019s birthday today, and she \u200bis on fire, testifying to the House Judiciary Committee on the dangers of child transition. \ud83d\udd25<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChoooCole?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ChoooCole<\/a> was given puberty blockers and testosterone at age \u200b13, followed by a double mastectomy\u200d at 15. <\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s now saving kids\u200b across the\u2026 \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3MVelxRY80\">pic.twitter.com\/3MVelxRY80<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Billboard\u200d Chris \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udde6\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@BillboardChris) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillboardChris\/status\/1684616416945983488?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Watching this,\u2062 it\u2019s clear that despite the horrors that have been inflicted on her, Chloe\u200d Cole is \u200drational. She\u2019s calmer than the vast majority\u200c of people would be, under the circumstances. And she\u2019s making a point that \u2063every human \u200cbeing on this planet would have agreed with just\u2062 a decade ago, which is that sexualizing and butchering children is one of the greatest crimes imaginable.<\/p>\n<p>Chloe Cole wasn\u2019t the only witness to expose\u200c the derangement \u2064of the \u200ctransgender movement. There was also testimony from former UPenn swimmer Paula Scanlan. Scanlan was forced by \u2063UPenn to\u2064 share a \u2063locker\u200d room with William Thomas, the mediocre\u200b male swimmer who now pretends to be a woman named \u201cLia\u2062 Thomas.\u201d Watch:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Paula Scanlan, \u2063who was on \u200bswim\u200c team with Lia Thomas, testifies:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile many of you already\u2064 know\u2062 this what you do not know is the \u2064experiences of the women on the University of Pennsylvania swim team. \u200bMy teammates and I were forced to undress in the presence of Lia, a \u20646&#8217;4&#8243; tall\u2026 \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/37USaJ1YeY\">pic.twitter.com\/37USaJ1YeY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TheBlaze (@theblaze) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/theblaze\/status\/1684585693815640064?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So the mentally disturbed male gets to watch women undress. And if any UPenn swimmers complained about the obvious absurdity \u2064of this, then the \u2063school would call them insane.<\/p>\n<p>Like Chloe Cole, \u2063Paula Scanlan is composed. She\u2019s testifying about her first-hand experience. And what she\u2019s saying is objectively horrifying.<\/p>\n<p>So how did Democrats\u2063 respond? What witnesses did Democrats present to rebut Paula Scanlan and Chloe Cole\u2019s\u2062 testimony? What \u201cevidence\u201d did the supposed \u201cparty of science\u201d offer in response, to justify transgenderism once and for all?<\/p>\n<p>One of the \u200bDemocrats\u2019 star witnesses yesterday was a woman \u2063named Miriam Reynolds. Reynolds testified that \u200dit\u2019s possible for anyone to change their gender, even \u2064young children.<\/p>\n<p>But Reynolds didn\u2019t base this conclusion on \u200cany scientific data, or any kind \u2063of coherent argument whatsoever. Instead, Reynolds testified that \u2062she knew her 11-year-old\u200c daughter was really a\u200c boy, contrary to \u2063what all the doctors said, because he didn\u2019t like the color pink.\u2062 Oh, and also she was friends with boys, and she liked \u2062to play football. Watch \u200dthis:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We thought he was a tomboy. He refused to wear anything pink or girly and he was the only girl on the football team for years.&#8221; A woman testifies about transing her 11-year-old\u200b daughter before the House Judicial Committee.\ud83e\uddf5 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GW2vKWE4D2\">pic.twitter.com\/GW2vKWE4D2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 \u200dSidewalk Steve (@Sidewalk_Steve) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sidewalk_Steve\/status\/1684666529634197504?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 27, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>What a profound contrast between the not only emotionally compelling but also\u200b incredibly\u200b logical and reasonable testimonies of the \u200dmutilation opponents,\u2063 versus the half-baked, ridiculous logic of this \u2064mother.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2063same people who tell you that\u200d gender stereotypes are evil, \u200bare now telling you that 11-year-olds should be \u200ccastrated\u2064 because they don\u2019t like the color pink. It would be hilarious if it weren\u2019t \u200cso \u2062tragic.\u200c Keep in mind that the proponents of the\u2064 \u201cgender affirmation\u201d racket \u200bspecifically brought Miriam\u2064 Reynolds to Congress, for the express purpose of representing their point of view. This\u200b isn\u2019t someone who \u200drandomly walked into Congress off the street. Staffers\u2064 picked this\u2062 person. They \u2063vetted her. This is the best they\u2063 can do. \u201cWe should mutilate kids if they don\u2019t \u200clike a certain color. Her child \u2064likes the color pink; therefore \u2062he\u2019s a\u200d boy.\u201d \u200bThat is\u200d the strongest argument they can muster.<\/p>\n<p>Inane doesn\u2019t begin to describe \u200bthis. The contrast between Chloe Cole and \u2063Miriam Reynolds,\u2062 like the contrast between\u200d Tom McClintock and Mary Scanlon, could not be more pronounced. One side\u200d is interested \u200cin reason and compassion. The other side presents\u200b the most juvenile, self-contradictory arguments imaginable.<\/p>\n<p>As the \u2063hearing \u200bwent on, this continued. Watch Congressman Wesley Hunt\u2019s argument against child mutilation. Everyone who has kids understands what Wesley Hunt is saying. Kids think crazy things, all the time. It\u2019s \u2063the job of parents to correct\u200d kids when they \u2063do \u200dthat.<\/p>\n<p>Now contrast \u200cwhat Wesley\u200d Hunt\u2062 just said with the remarks \u200byesterday from Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen. \u2062This verges on parody, if \u2064we\u2019re being\u2064 honest. Steve Cohen \u2014 while arguing in defense of transgenderism\u200d \u2014 \u200bconcedes to \u200dPaula Scanlan, the UPenn swimmer, that Penn made a big mistake in\u2064 its handling of the whole Lia Thomas situation. Cohen admits that Penn should have set up a quote \u201cbarrier\u201d to separate male swimmers like Will Thomas from female swimmers like Scanlan. Just \u200dlike the\u2062 ranking member, he \u200dclearly doesn\u2019t understand\u2063 the\u2062 implications of what he\u2019s saying.\u200b Watch:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Democrat rep. \u200dCohen\u2062 says \u200dputting &#8220;some type \u200cof barriers&#8221; in women&#8217;s\u200c lockers will be the \u2063solution for biological males\u200c to change in front of women\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WQp2Wf8Imp\">pic.twitter.com\/WQp2Wf8Imp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Post \u2064Millennial \u200c(@TPostMillennial) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TPostMillennial\/status\/1684590458528317441?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July \u200d27, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So according to pro-trans Democrat Steve Cohen, we need \u201cbarriers\u201d in the locker room to separate\u2062 men from women. Maybe this barrier could\u2062 involve walls, and signage that reads, oh \u200bI don\u2019t know: \u201cMen\u2019s Restroom\u201d and \u201cWomen\u2019s Restroom.\u201d\u2063 And maybe we could keep the people with penises confined to the \u201cmen\u2019s\u201d section.\u2062 What a revolutionary idea!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s too funny. Steve Cohen, like so many Democrats, says he supports \u200dtransgenderism without understanding the insane demands\u2062 of\u200d the movement. He just\u200c reads the cue \u200dcards. He \u2064apes the talking points\u2062 without understanding them. In that sense, Cohen has a lot in common with \u200bcongressman\u2063 Jerry Nadler of New York\u2063 who\u2063 also made a similar argument.<\/p>\n<p>So on the one hand, you have an impassioned, compelling\u2064 argument from conservatives that children can\u2019t consent to the mutilation of their \u2064genitals. On the other hand, you have one of\u200d the most senior Democrats in the House, saying\u2063 that you\u2063 need to do whatever kids say, or \u2064else they\u2019ll kill themselves. And\u2062 he\u2019s saying that, if you \u200bdon\u2019t affirm their \u2062delusions, then you\u2019re \u201cbullying them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Normally when\u200d people threaten to kill themselves, we recognize they need immediate intervention. They\u2019re not \u200cthinking\u2064 right. But in this case, \u2062Jerry Nadler says, when children are suicidal, we need to do whatever they say. We should affirm whatever delusion they\u2019ve been told to believe. If a child is in \u200bdespair, he says, we should\u200c affirm exactly\u200c the delusion that has caused\u2064 the despair.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll never find a\u2063 clearer explanation for why transgender activists demand censorship than yesterday\u2019s hearing at the House Judiciary \u200cCommittee. At\u200b every turn, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-the-left-is-desperate-to-stop-public-debate\/\" title=\"Why the Left Wants to Suppress Public Debate\">sane people offered carefully considered<\/a>, \u200drational arguments, Democrats \u2064flailed. They contradicted themselves. They resorted to one of the\u2063 most desperate\u2063 and\u2063 despicable arguments imaginable \u2014 \u201cstop questioning us or else kids will kill themselves!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the best argument that a 17-term congressman, with the most experienced political staffers in all\u200b of Congress, could come up with. It\u2019s ludicrous. \u2063It\u2019s incoherent. It\u2019s grotesquely stupid. It wilts immediately on contact with the testimony of young people \u2014 people with no political experience\u200c \u2014 who have seen enough of this barbarism. As \u200dpathetic as it is, the essence \u2062of\u200d trans ideology has been exposed, yet again, for everyone to see. This happens anytime there is any kind of open debate \u2062between the two sides of this \u2063issue.
