{"id":1985114,"date":"2023-07-28T13:25:01","date_gmt":"2023-07-28T17:25:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/leftist-disinformation-police-pressure-meta-to-run-election-interference-on-new-threads-platform\/"},"modified":"2023-07-28T13:26:27","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T17:26:27","slug":"leftist-disinformation-police-pressure-meta-to-run-election-interference-on-new-threads-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/leftist-disinformation-police-pressure-meta-to-run-election-interference-on-new-threads-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"Left-wing &#8216;Disinfo&#8217; Police Push Meta for Election Interference on New Threads Platform."},"content":{"rendered":"<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"><div class=\"mashsb-box\"><div class=\"mashsb-count mash-medium\" style=\"&quot;\"><div class=\"counts mashsbcount\">24<\/div><span class=\"mashsb-sharetext\">SHARES<\/span><\/div><div class=\"mashsb-buttons\"><a class=\"mashicon-facebook mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativenewsdaily.net%2Fbreaking-news%2Fleftist-disinformation-police-pressure-meta-to-run-election-interference-on-new-threads-platform%2F\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-twitter mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=&amp;url=https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/?p=1985114&amp;via=ConservNewsDly\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><a class=\"mashicon-subscribe mash-medium mash-nomargin mashsb-noshadow\" href=\"#\" target=\"_top\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"icon\"><\/span><span class=\"text\">Subscribe<\/span><\/a><div class=\"onoffswitch2 mash-medium mashsb-noshadow\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><\/div>\n            <\/div>\n                <div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div><\/aside>\n            <!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 4.0.47--><div>\n<div>\n<figure>\n    <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Left-Wing Organizations Pressure Meta \u2062to Combat \u2063Election\u2064 Disinformation<\/h2>\n<p>A group \u2063of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-of-taxpayer-funded-antiracist-group-funneled-nearly-300k-to-husbands-law-firm\/\" title=\"President of Taxpayer-Funded Antiracist Group Funneled Nearly 0K to Husband\u2019s Law Firm\">left-wing organizations<\/a> is pressuring Meta to develop a plan \u2064to combat so-called election \u201cdisinformation\u201d on its recently launched Threads platform.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month,\u2062 nearly a dozen Democrat-aligned organizations led by\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/vote-org-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vote.org<\/a> \u2063 \u2014 a left-wing \u201cget-out-the-vote\u201d group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vote.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dedicated<\/a> to reaching demographics favorable to Democrats \u2014 sent \u2064a \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vote.org\/threadsonelections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> asking \u2062Meta to \u201crelease a \u200brobust plan to ensure the platform \u200chas strong election policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Threads builds its audience, it is incumbent that you make it clear that the platform will \u2062not be a place where \u200dbaseless conspiracies \u2062and\u2062 unverified reports are allowed \u200cto proliferate,\u201d \u2064the letter reads, taking specific aim\u200c at <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.youtube\/inside-youtube\/us-election-misinformation-update-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YouTube<\/a> \u2064 and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/twitter-files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter<\/a> for \u201crecently tak[ing] \u2064 concrete steps \u200cto allow\u2062 election disinformation to thrive\u200b on their\u2064 platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In\u200b an attempt to justify their bid for increased policing of \u200dalleged \u200d\u201cdisinformation,\u201d Vote.org pointed to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol and \u2063state legislatures\u2019 enaction\u200b of election integrity laws \u2014 which the group \u200dfalsely \u200dclassifies as\u200c \u201cvoter suppression \u2064laws\u201d \u200c\u2014 as examples of the \u201creal-world fallout\u201d stemming from the \u2062\u201cabsence of strong protections\u201d for so-called \u201celection integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile \u2062there\u2062 is still much \u2064work \u2064to be done, we know that Facebook has devoted time and staff resources toward its\u200d election policies. Threads \u2062must do the same,\u201d the document \u2064reads.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also shows\u200c an apparent attempt by\u2064 Vote.org\u200d and \u200dits co-signers to insert themselves into the company\u2019s decision-making\u2063 process.\u2063 In the document\u2019s closing \u2063paragraphs, the groups \u200ddemanded Meta forfeit any and all information regarding its \u201cproposed\u200d or in-place \u2062policies related \u2062to election integrity, disinformation, voting and elections.\u201d The organizations also offered to meet with company officials to \u201cdiscuss [such issues] further [and] provide input and recommendations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additional left-wing groups that\u200b co-signed the letter include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/political-party\/end-citizens-united-ecu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">End Citizens United<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/organization\/public-wise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Public \u2064Wise<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/when-we-all-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">When \u2063We All \u2062Vote<\/a>, among\u200c others.<\/p>\n<p>While the use\u2062 of quotes from Presidents Ronald Reagan \u2064and\u2063 Franklin \u2063Roosevelt on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vote.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">homepage<\/a> \u2064 may indicate some semblance of\u2062 bipartisanship,\u2064 Vote.org has a\u200c documented history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tulane-university-to-host-event-on-decolonizing-study-abroad\/\" title=\"Tulane University To Host Event On \u2018Decolonizing Study Abroad\u2019\">left-wing activism<\/a>. \u2063In March 2021, for instance, the group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vote.org\/blog\/what_is_the_for_the_people_act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">publicly supported<\/a> House\u2064 Democrats\u2019 \u201cFor the People Act.\u201d More commonly known as HR 1, the unconstitutional bill sought \u200dto <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/23\/gop-senators-barely-block-democrats-bid-to-end-honest-elections-nationwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cement<\/a> many of the non-secure \u200cvoting practices used throughout the 2020 election into \u200dfederal \u200claw and allow the federal government\u200d to oversee and \u200dcontrol the electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>Vote.org also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vote.org\/blog\/wisconsinsupremecourt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voiced<\/a> opposition to the July 2022 Wisconsin Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/08\/wisconsin-supreme-court-drops-hammer-on-2020-election-shenanigans-ballot-drop-boxes-are-illegal-under-wisconsin-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruling<\/a> that said the\u2062 use of ballot \u200bdrop boxes \u2063represents a violation of state law, claiming\u200c the decision \u201cflies \u2064in the face of the promise of our democracy.\u201d \u2062The group furthermore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vote.org\/blog\/release_TN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">criticized<\/a> \u2064 Tennessee Republicans for expelling two of their Democrat colleagues \u2064from the state\u2063 legislature earlier this year after the latter <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/07\/tennessee-republicans-show-exactly-how-to-respond-to-left-wing-hostage-taking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joined<\/a> a mob of \u2064left-wing demonstrators in disrupting proceedings at the capitol. Vote.org\u2019s statement did not, however, include condemnation of the leftist rioters who \u2063orchestrated the \u201csiege\u201d on the \u2063capitol.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth \u200cnoting how Big Tech used the online \u200bpolicing of\u200b so-called\u2062 \u201cdisinformation\u201d and \u201cmisinformation\u201d as a pretext to interfere in the 2020 presidential \u2062election.\u200c After the New York Post dropped its <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/14\/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bombshell story<\/a> on \u2062Hunter\u200b Biden\u2019s laptop weeks before \u200dthe 2020\u2064 contest, platforms such as Twitter and Facebook went out of their way to censor the story and \u2062prevent its reach.<\/p>\n<p>On <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/03\/twitter-files-confirm-big-tech-leftists-suppressed-hunter-biden-laptop-story-ahead-of-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, users were not permitted\u2064 to share the story, even via direct message. The platform further\u200b removed links and issued alerts that it may be\u2062 \u201cunsafe.\u201d Meanwhile,\u2063 Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/thefdrlst.wpengine.com\/2020\/10\/14\/facebook-is-now-officially-censoring-the-new-york-posts-hunter-biden-bombshell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> shortly\u2062 after the story broke that \u200cit would be \u201creducing [the story\u2019s] distribution\u201d pending verification by third-party \u201cfact-checkers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Heavily\u200c involved in these company\u2019s suppression of\u2063 the story was\u2062 the FBI, which had <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/22\/fbi-knew-hunter-bidens-laptop-was-authentic-a-year-before-pressuring-big-tech-to-censor-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">authenticated<\/a> the laptop as early \u200das November 2019 but nonetheless warned \u200cTwitter and Facebook to be\u200b on the lookout for \u201cRussian propaganda\u201d and \u201chack-and-leak operations\u201d by state actors in the\u200c months leading up \u2063to the election.<\/p>\n<p>Meta CEO \u2064Mark Zuckerberg \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/26\/confirmed-fbi-colluded-with-big-tech-to-prevent-voters-from-learning-about-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a> \u200d during a\u2062 Joe Rogan podcast interview last year that Facebook\u2019s decision to \u200bsuppress the story was based on the FBI\u2019s warning.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Shawn\u2063 Fleetwood is a staff writer for \u2062The Federalist and a graduate of the University\u200b of Mary Washington.
