Mesha\u2062 Mainor Criticizes Democratic\u2062 Party\u2064 for Neglecting Minorities and the Poor<\/h2>\n<p>Georgia state Rep. Mesha Mainor, a Republican who recently left the\u200b Democratic Party, had some strong \u2062words for her \u200cformer party. In an interview with Fox News, Mainor expressed her disappointment with \u200bDemocratic\u2063 leadership for not doing enough\u2064 to support minorities and the impoverished in low-income communities.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt was not\u200c until I became a policymaker and \u200bread every single line\u2064 of the legislation that I realized we are doing so many things that are not \u200dbenefiting people\u2064 of color and\u2062 those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, despite promoting that we are. There&#8217;s a lot of propaganda,\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mainor, who ran her campaign on the issue of school choice, revealed that \u2063her stance on the \u2064matter led to\u200d her being &#8220;ostracized&#8221; by former colleagues. She explained that she \u2064disagreed with the pressure\u2064 to vote along party lines, rather than considering the \u200dneeds of their communities.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cEveryone was told \u200bif you don&#8217;t vote \u200dwith the party on\u200c this caucus line, you will \u200dbe ostracized. You will\u200c be on the island by \u200dyourself. I \u200bdid not agree with \u2064that. And so the other people, in my opinion, \u2063I don&#8217;t know, but I feel like \u200cthey were pressured into voting a caucus decision instead of voting for their communities,\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>One of the \u2062major factors \u200dinfluencing Mainor&#8217;s\u200d decision to switch parties was the Democratic Party&#8217;s stance on defunding the police. However, \u2063it was her unwavering belief in school \u200cchoice, which she personally benefited from as a child, that \u200dshe could\u2062 not compromise on.<\/p>\n<p>School choice provides parents with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/d-c-schools-will-not-provide-alternative-education-for-unvaccinated-students\/\" title=\"D.C. schools will not provide alternative education for unvaccinated students\">alternative education options<\/a> \u200bfor their children,\u2063 beyond public schools. That leadership is Democrat leadership, and education is just \u2064too important of a\u2064 value for us to let it go on without\u2062 being focused on a\u200d moment longer,\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mainor&#8217;s departure from \u2063the Democratic Party to\u200c the Republican Party\u200c aligns with the decision made\u200c by \u2064former Rep. Vernon Jones (R-GA) two \u200cyears ago.
