One of the key changes is the transfer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/liberal-modernity-and-its-discontents\/\" title=\"Liberal Modernity and Its Discontents\">decision-making authority<\/a> from commanders to \u2064specialized and independent military prosecutors. This shift\u2064 ensures that cases involving \u2062the aforementioned crimes\u200b are handled \u2064by professionals with expertise in these \u2062areas.<\/p>\n<h3>Independent Prosecutors and Decisions<\/h3>\n<p>The new Offices of Special Trial Counsel\u200c have already been established for each service branch. However, they will not\u2064 assume authority for prosecutorial decisions until Dec. 27. These decisions will\u2062 be completely independent of the chain \u2062of command, ensuring impartiality and fairness.<\/p>\n<p>This executive order\u200b is a result of the fiscal 2022\u200d National Defense Authorization Act, which incorporated recommendations from \u200bthe Independent\u2063 Review Commission on Sexual Assault in \u200bthe\u200d Military. There were 8,942 reports filed from Oct. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2022, a 1% increase from the previous fiscal year. The \u2062report also\u200b highlighted a 13% increase in 2021 \u2063compared to\u2063 the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>While the\u200d Navy, Marine Corps, and\u200b Air Force saw increases in reports, the Army was the only branch to report a decrease, with a 9% decline. The efforts\u200b to combat sexual assault and harassment within \u200bthe military remain a top priority for senior leaders in \u200dthe Department of Defense.<\/p>\n<p>Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen.
