Here\u2019s how to give them a push,\u201d outlined \u2062Romney\u2019s strategy\u2064 to push out candidates\u2064 that may dilute the vote, essentially turning \u200dthe primaries into a two-person race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMegadonors and influencers\u2014large and\u2062 small\u2014are going to have to do something they didn\u2019t do in 2016: get candidates they \u2064support\u200b to agree to \u2064withdraw if and when their paths to the nomination \u200bare effectively closed,\u201d Romney wrote \u2064in his Wall \u2063Street Journal \u2062piece.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat decision day should \u200cbe no later\u200c than, \u2063say, \u2064Feb. \u200d26, the\u2062 Monday following the contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Mitt Romney published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/miles-anonymous-taylor-accidentally-exposes-the-fraudulence-of-the-mainstream-media\/\" title=\"Miles 'Anonymous' Taylor Accidentally Exposes the Fraudulence of the Mainstream Media\">op-ed<\/a> in the Wall \u200bStreet Journal on Monday pleading with the powerbrokers \u2063of his own party not to repeat what he sees as the mistakes of the 2016 GOP \u200bprimary, \u2064which\u200d led to Donald Trump\u2019s\u2064 shock win of the \u200dnomination.<\/p>\n<p>Romney\u2063 began by noting that \u201ca baker\u2019s\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YGY0590VIk\">pic.twitter.com\/YGY0590VIk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Croom \u2013 (\u30c4) (@dailycallout)\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dailycallout\/status\/1683603728467906561?\">July \u200d24, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The \u200cNew York Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/07\/22\/trump-dominates-gop-field-beating-biden-in-general-election-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Saturday that \u201cif the 2024 Republican presidential primary were held today,\u200c Trump would\u2064 win with 52% of voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This means\u200c that even if \u2063all Republican votes not cast for Trump were combined and given \u200cto the opposing party, Trump would still emerge as the winner.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, according\u200c to the Post report, in\u200d a head-to-head matchup against Biden, Trump is projected to win with a margin of 45 to 40 percent, with 16 percent of voters undecided.<\/p>\n<p>These favorable odds of victory against\u200d the Democratic candidate\u2062 raise the question: Why would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mitt-romney-roasted-online-national-hot-dog-day-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Romney<\/a> push for another candidate\u200d to\u200b win the \u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/now-know-start-date-trumps-document-trial-right-several-key-primaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">primaries<\/a> against\u2063 Trump?<\/p>\n<p>Why ask big\u2064 donors to pull their support \u200bfrom their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lies-ums-and-ill-circle-back-what-we-can-expect-from-jen-psaki\/\" title=\"Lies, Ums, And \u2018I\u2019ll Circle Back\u2019: What We Can Expect From Jen Psaki\">chosen candidate<\/a> in the primaries in an \u200battempt to consolidate support for \u2064an alternative to Trump?<\/p>\n<p>Fox New\u2019s Laura Ingraham <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/media\/481779-foxs-laura-ingraham-calls-on-romney-to-resign-ultimate-selfish-preening-self\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">summed it \u200bup<\/a> when she addressed Romney after his impeachment vote\u2064 against\u2063 Trump. \u2064Referring to him as \u201cthe ultimate selfish, preening, self-centered politician,\u201d Ingraham continued, \u201cMitt, you made your stand. Now you\u2064 should resign. \u2062You committed a fraud on the people of Utah, on the Republican Party, on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/aoc-gets-lesson-constitution-mouthing-off-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Constitution<\/a>, and have thoroughly embarrassed\u2062 yourself. If I\u200c have to move \u200bthere to run \u2064against him in \u2062four and \u200ca half years, I will,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Washington State Republican candidate\u2064 for Congress Jerrod Sessler, who is running against one of the 10 Trump-impeaching Republicans, Rep.\u200c Dan Newhouse, commented on Romney\u2019s Wall Street Journal Op-Ed calling him a \u201cturncoat.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Interesting read from turncoat <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MittRomney?\">@MittRomney<\/a>. After\u200b Feb. 26, they should start doing just \u2064that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romney is right about one \u2063thing.
