We&#8217;re proud of \u2063the\u2063 result.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This vote marks the initial\u200b step in the\u200b budgetary process \u2062for \u2062fiscal 2024. It will \u200dbe followed by \u200btwo\u2064 public hearings and a final vote in September. Martin Garcia, \u200cChairman of the Central Florida\u2064 Tourism\u200c Oversight \u200bDistrict Board, shed light on the wasteful practices that \u200bhave been eliminated to reduce property\u200c taxes. He revealed that \u2063the previous\u2063 board, appointed by Disney, had allocated over $8 million annually for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/property-tax-rates-in-disney-district-to-come-down-after-vote-from-desantis-appointed-board\/\" title=\"Disney district property tax rates to decrease following vote by DeSantis-appointed board.\">law enforcement services exclusively<\/a> on Disney properties. Recognizing the\u200d unfairness of this allocation, the current board has taken action to rectify the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia emphasized, &#8220;That\u200b doesn&#8217;t\u2064 make any sense to me and it doesn&#8217;t\u200c make sense\u2064 to anybody on our team that has looked at\u200b it. So that is one\u2062 of\u200d the\u2064 savings Mr. Gilzean has found.&#8221; He further added that as they continue\u200c their work, \u200dthey have discovered other questionable expenses made by the \u2063previous board\u2064 using district funds.<\/p>\n<h3>A\u200d New Era of Governance<\/h3>\n<p>The Central Florida \u200dTourism Oversight District Board was appointed\u200d in February following the restructuring of\u200b the district \u200dby Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL). This restructuring transformed\u200d the district encompassing the Walt\u200d Disney World \u2062Resort into the Central Florida Tourism Oversight \u200dDistrict. Since \u2062assuming power, the board has \u2062encountered conflicts with Disney and\u200c Governor DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p>Upon \u2063assuming\u200d their roles, the new board \u2064uncovered an agreement between Disney and the previous \u2062board that\u2063 granted the entertainment giant \u2063significant control over \u200cthe \u200bdistrict. In \u200dresponse, Governor DeSantis and the board took decisive \u200daction to invalidate the agreement. \u200bThis involved utilizing a legal infirmity to\u2064 declare\u2064 the agreement void and passing legislation that\u2062 specifically \u2064targeted its \u200dvalidity.<\/p>\n<p>Disney responded by filing a lawsuit\u200d against state officials in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida \u2064on the same day the board\u2063 declared \u200dthe agreement\u200d void.
